“Far from the reality”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 19, 2012

When I booked the room I was expecting that this hotel will justify 4 stars. At our arrival there was one rude and indifferent receptionist who didn't even escort us to the room..Our room was located next to the elevator, 2 meters far away from reception desk so we can hear everything ( phone ringing, people talking until they are waiting elevator.. ). We ask for a matrimonial bed and we got two beds. Linen was smaller size than bed and it wasn't good quality.
Real surprise was awaited us in the bathroom - shower was rusted and broken, cables were sticking out of the wall and it was very dirty.
They didn't have hygiene bags, bathrobes and slippers...
Breakfast was ok but nothing special - bread, eggs, sweet breakfast, cheese, ham, coffe, orange juice and milk.
Over all, if you want to stay in this hotel you need to know that it does not justify 4 stars!

I haven't stayed at this hotel, I just went straight to 9th floor in a bar to enjoy spectacular view over the city. Terrace goes around the hotels building so one can enjoy whole place.

When you are in the city it is a must to stop and it costs nothing, AND, there is free wi-fi available so you can have a nice office up there.

stayed at end of October 2012. Arrived late evening and was dropped across road by taxi driver. The hotel is situated on a busy main road and tram route but also at the beginning of pedestrianised area leading to old town.
The hotel is quite unusual as it has its own lift to the 9th floor which you take from a shared lobby with the residents of the building. The lift opens straight in to reception where we were greeted and given our room key. It is a pity although only 3 additional floors there is no further lift so carrying suitcases up not much fun.
The room itself was furnished with modern ikea style furniture and had a seperate seating area with tv. very nicely fitted bathroom and bedroom had comfortable large bed.
the views from the hotel are well worth staying here for as there are not many other high rise buildings nearby.
The breakfast area was very pleasant and omelettes could be ordered if required.
A balcony surrounded the lounge breakfast are giving views from all sides of the building.
A small criticism would be that the hotel towels are quite small and worn but towels were replaced and room cleaned every day.
The eternal flame is situated right outside the hotel.
In Sarajevo a lot of Dogs live on the streets they are no threat but always looking for food so if you do feed them do it indirectly so that they dont follow you looking for more.

The hotel is located right on the main tourist street. Its a 5 minute walk to the old historical city center. I booked the hotel via Expedia since I needed a cheap hotel to site see and spend 1 night in Sarajevo on my way to Dubrovnik.... if you are looking for a hotel to stay 1 night in the city and don't mind some minor inconveniences this hotel will do fine...

The hotel was ok for what we paid. but I have some observations to make:
- Hotel lobby was extremely dirty. it seemed like the common areas had not been cleaned for some time.
- NO ELEVATOR to the rooms... There is an elevator to the hotels lobby on the 9th floor of the building but there are NO elevators to the rooms, we had to carry our heavy bags up 2 flights of stairs and nobody offered to help us with the baggage....
- Room had a great view of the old city, but the room could have used some basic maintenance. the curtains were falling down....
- Breakfast was very good. make sure you order with the waitress and she will bring you some eggs, etc....
- If you rent a car you are in for a treat. since the hotel is located in a pedestrian street you cannot park the car to load/unload. you need to part some blocks away and walk to the hotel....

Small hotel perched on top of an old apartment block so seems a bit weird on arrival. Lift takes you up to reception on 9th floor but it's only stairs after that (there are 4 floors of rooms).

Positives - Rooms large with 2 floor to ceiling walls of windows so great views across the city. Hotel situated on the main pedestrian street in Sarajevo, opposite is the Eternal Flame and only a 10 min walk to most sights. Area felt really safe at night time as street full of families walking around - no noise in room due to being high up. Good value for a hotel in the city centre. Tram links to bus and train station.

Negatives - rooms very bright due to so many windows and cream curtains! Air-con very loud and not very effective which was a bit annoying when it was 35 degrees outside. Breakfast not great, very limited. Hotel seen better days - stained carpets, blind fell off wall when we tried to open it and walls a bit marked.

Overall, the location was the main plus point and view from room was great too. For such a central hotel in a capital city was worth the money.

Room Tip: The 2nd floor has rooms with 2 walls of windows for great views and you even get a full length windo...

Firstly and most importantly: this hotel is about views and location! you cannot beat the beauty of a birdeye view over Sarajevo and the mountains surrounding it from the skyscrapertop that is the hotel, on a sunny day or on a beautiful night, when the lights of the city reflect the starfilled sky!! (and with rooms with floor-to-ceiling windows to enjoy it, that is)

We visit the city regularly, and always stay in this hotel, and plan to keep on doing this in the future. We would always recommend this hotel for a stay in Sarajevo;what other hotel is there, offering not only a place to sleep, but also such enjoyment of the city?

That being said, there are improvements possible. It is true that from the reception on the 9th, you have to use the stairs to get to your room (personally, we feel that is not a problem, but can imagine that it could be problematic). The elevator that takes you from ground floor to 9 also requires some patience, as it takes a while for it to come down. It is frequently used, as the hotel bar/restaurant is also used by locals or tourists coming for a coffee. While the bar/restaurant has possibly the best terrace ever, the balcony covering the whole outside of the skyscraper, it can be slightly annoying to hear the lounge music (seriously, who likes that anyway...)that is played there untill approx 23.00hrs in your room when it is above it.

Rooms are ok. there are two types though (and some appartements), smaller ones and bigger ones. The bigger ones, that have a small seating area (small sofa and table) are so much better than the small ones. The small ones have the same good views and huge windows to go with it, but you can barely turn around in them. No seats there, just a bed and a view. And a bath in the bathroom, wich is not provided in the bigger rooms (?). The big rooms are great, spacey enough, good beds, great views, all there.

All rooms, though pretty well decorated, seem to have some little flaw, e.g. no place in the bathroom to put your stuff on (except from a small space above the toilet, but i dont want my stuff to take a plunge), a heater that comes loose, a screw that is not fitted well etc. It has been this way for a while now, and it never really has put us off ( it doesnt really show either). it is a shame that the owners of the hotel don' t take the trouble to fix these minor bugs; it displays a lack of pride that the hotel, the views and the location does deserve. even we, as frequenting guests, feel this pride, as the hotel has a special feel about it, not lastly due to the beauty of the city that can possibly only be experienced here.

About the breakfast:it had improved. Next to the continental buffet there is now a menu where you can choose from a variety of eggs etc. last time we went though, there were some items unavailable which was a shame. The staff though was happy to provide alternatives and cater outside the menu to do so.

All in all, as said, we would always recommed this special hotel. It is a really cool hotel, they dont come more central, and the view...... even with the minor bugs. We look forward to returning.

We only stayed here one night. It is in a great location and clean. It is walking distance to the old town and has a great view of the city from the balcony which goes all around the building on the 9th floor. It is airconditioned & has a resturant, but the streets have many bars & eateries.Shopping is great. If you have a car it can be parked in 24 hr car parks close to the hotel at your cost.
