We stayed for a single night while on a bus tour. As many other reviewers have stated, this hotel is very much in the USSR style.

The first room we were assigned smelled as if a waterlogged ashtray had sat under the bed for about 6 months. Fortunately we were able to switch to an identical, non stinky room. The room key is an actual key on a very heavy key chain (we figure about 2 pounds). The room we had was very small with two single beds perpendicular to each other. The only place to set a suitcase was on the floor - bit of a tripping hazard. The windows open very wide and are your only option for ventilation. No fans or air conditioning.

The bathroom is also tiny but sufficient. Our shower head rotated on it's own and succeeded in soaking the entire bathroom.

We found the breakfast very heavy on unidentifiable fried meats.

Overall, it's relatively clean but if you have another option I suggest you take it.

Hotel is a 10 storey building in the northwest of Minsk near Victory Parc, by taxi 20 min or a 1 h walk to the train Station. Rooms (around $ 100) are small but new and clean with TV (only BBC-World and channels in Russian), no AC, bathroom small but Okay. Breakfast in the 2nd floor, very crowded in the morning since most travel parties from Western Europe stay in this hotel (probably have to). Overall the hotel is 3 times more expensive than similar hotels outside Minsk. Never stay there on a 3d of July since the hotel is next to the military parade and thus of limits – you can leave it (you will be searched by secret service and there are no taxis or anything near the hotel) but you cannot enter the hotel until 8pm and even after this time you will also be searched (this time by army/police) and if you carry luggage this can be fun. In my opinion should all the hotels in this area close down between the 2nd and 4th of July.

Hotel Planeta is what many would describe as typical Soviet hotel, but it's not bad actually. The building itself is not very appealing and the inside, including the room's are very out-dated, but it is clean, the staff are friendly and helpfull and one can generally say that the hotel has it's charm. It has a shop where you can buy snacks and soft drinks and a small souvenir shop. There is also free WI-FI in the rooms. My only complaint is that the the breakfast was a little bit pricy and that the rooms were poorly soundproofed, so I woke up every time someone came to my neighbouring room. But overall, not a bad choice at all.

Serve....non-existent....asked about air conditioning, told point blank---Open the window!!
Staff was rude and dismissive, it was truly stepping back into Soviet times. Hotel is huge, people standing around doing nothing....arrived after 10p on a Saturday night,
Buffet breakfast was fairly good...but once again, the staff was non-smiling and non-attentive. I definitely not recommend this hotel..it was a second choice, the Garni Hotel was full, so I was told...but I don't believe it.

Room Tip: Stay away from this hotel, not worth the money.

Stayed 4 nights for business. The hotel is adequate and has (almost) everything you basically need: very confortable bed, clean and quiet room, ok breakfast, free wifi (seems to work better at the lobby though) although no kettle for tea/coffee. It is definitely dated and, as many people here pointed out, in a very soviet style, but this is quite an experience. Check-in staff provided good and fast service with good English skills. Haven't checked the wellness centre with pool, sauna, nor the bar/casino which looked quite dodgy from outside. The city center is at approx 20 mins walking (very enjoyable in June), plenty of taxis parked outside accepting Euros too (at least from/to the airport). A beautiful park (Viktory Park) is located nearby, 10 mins walking in the opposite direction vs city center. Very safe at night, this is something you can really appreciate in Minsk, together with the general cleanliness. Overall a more than decent hotel for the price you pay, especially considering how expensive 4 stars hotels are in Minsk.

I stayed two nights and The hotel is adequate and has necessary features but seems dated and a bit bland. Check-in staff provided good service but none were overly friendly. English speaking staff were present and a guest who speaks no Russian would have no trouble. They offer a pool, sauna, and wellness center. My room was comfortable and quiet with a desk and TV. Breakfast was good. The hotel is removed from the city center but has a few points of interest nearby. I walked around at night and had no worries. Several restaurants and clubs are nearby and the hotel offers a gentleman's show. It seems most east European hotels have call girls and they were present gave no hassle when rejected. Overall a decent hotel for the price.

Welcome to one more USSR heritage spot! Solid 3 stars right as declared. Huge reception with very questionable logic of space use. Old good keys for your room accompanied with massive brass sinker won’t be replaced soon with not stylish smart key card I guess. Classic style wooden floor will lead you to your room full of squeaky sounds because internal door wouldn’t stay shut since it lost centering some time ago. Modern windows will not incline to stay open the way you would expect so you either keep em shut or leave em live their own life on the wind. The most important part for me which is the bed was very much ok and once you manage to fight sounds inside your room you’ll be rewarded with a good sleep. Bathroom is of the same style, nothing is solid, curtain is hanging on banded pole and water goes away slower than it arrives from the shower but everything works as it should in 3 stars hotel. Opening the fridge be ready to have a couple of plastic bottles falling down. Wi-Fi is pretty stable and is free. TV is modern and with all major US and Europe channels there. B-fast is a test for your stomach but everybody survives. Local guests seemed happy. Hotel is situated not far from the down town and can be used as a plan B when all new ones are full.

Room Tip: They all pretty much the same
