“Nice little museum, worth the small entrance fee”
Reviewed October 31, 2013 via mobile

This is a small museum but it is worth the low entrance fee, about $2. It takes about an hour to see at modest pace. There aren't any extraordinary exhibits, but some unique pieces. You can get a feel for Albanian history, but the descriptions are all in Albanian so if you don't speak Albanian, you have to figure things out on your own.

“Review of Albania history”
Reviewed October 16, 2013

First of all - it was worth seeing it. You will need at least 2 hours to see it whole, it has a lot to offer, very nice exhibition, the building itself is not as modern as it could or should be, but again, this is a relict of some past times, and therefore i see it as additional value. Albania has very interesting geo-strategical position, interesting and long history, full of turmoils and violence, but culture as well. Need to see it! Entrance fee is 200 LEK, which is nothing, sundays and mondays are closed, other days the museum is open till 17h, so make sure you will get there at 14h lastest. Easy to find, right next to Skanderbeg square.

“Museum better than expected”
Reviewed October 15, 2013

This is the place to go if you are interested in Albanian history ranging from Illyrian, through the communist era to present day. The museum is well situated in the center of Tirana and well maintained. The displays of material objects and photos are clearly marked in English and could use more lighting. The chronological order of Albanian history is easy to follow going from one floor to the other. All three to exact. The museum covers the Turkish dominance of Albania to a
"T" and could not be better. The part delving into the Albanian partisan activity during WWII is
excellent. The visual and material displays are real eye openers if you are especially interested
in how Albania became a communist block member after WWII. There was so much to see that I had to return the next day to complete the tour. For $2...a great buy. Bravo Albania!

“Somewhat interesting, but mostly in Albanian”
Reviewed October 15, 2013

Hey, if you can read Albanian, I'm sure it's great. If you can't, well, there are a few explanations in English. The exhibits aren't all that modern or fancy, but this is a decent place to get a picture of what Albanians consider to be important in their history.

“National History Museaum, Tirana.”
Reviewed October 8, 2013

The museum is located in the centre of the capital of Albania. It is of impressive proportions with well-laid out exhibits within. The exterior suffers somewhat from a lack of maintenance but the interior is beautifully maintained. The staff are attentive and ready to help visitors. It would be advisable to check the current opening hours as there is confusion between the times advertised and those actually in force.
Highly recommended for those wishing to know more about this fascinating Country.
