It is a beautiful, wide square with the main attractions of the city surrounding it. The wide boulevards spreading from there in all directions are truly impressive. Although it is understandable that the "monuments" of the communist era may be sort of disturbing for many Albanians , I think it's sad to see, that the flair is disturbed by many modern skyscrapers fastly rising throughout the inner city

A focal point for the city and a grand tribute to communist planning. The horse points down a wide boulevard leading to the train and bus stations. You can imagine soldiers demonstrating their marching patterns in this huge space. In the evenings, people watching is the thing to do.

On our trip through Albania, it's important to see how it's capital city thrives in year 2013. Who could believe its welcoming status, considering what life was like years ago.
The square itself is beautiful, and the infamous horse sits proud in the middle surrounded by the well maintained parks. Buildings located on the edge of the square have true character and deserve their place on the front line.
Much traffic circulates around the square, but hey this is a modern day city in a modern day world. Glad to see the Albanain flag flying high, shame only 3 million Albanians living in the country, as the country has moved on from its troubled times. But 6 million Albanians living abroad suggests otherwise.
We felt completely safe and would recommend others to see Skanderbeg square, make it happen as its a good possibility that the rest of the country does not represent this beauty.

It's a huge square in a heavily traffic intersection. It's a good place to sit and watch the locals. Many of them sit around the park enjoying the sun, and many more pass by the square.
