Despite being designed for the more budget-conscious, Hotel Kruja’s service was on-par with the finest of hotels. Staff were extremely friendly and helped with bags, suggestions, and even offered up personal vehicles to get us to the bus station if we didn’t want to pay for a taxi (I think that last one was because they liked us.) The beds were fine, the bathrooms were okay (the showers flood the bathroom and you need to throw away toilet paper rather than flush it, but as we travel it appears that that’s pretty standard in this country,) but the hotel has its own well and the tap water is drinkable, unlike anywhere else in the city! On the ground floor they have a lovely bar and breakfast room, but the back patio is truly a pleasure. You can tell that Hotel Kruja is a great establishment from all the the police officers that choose to frequent the cafe on their breaks. Perhaps the most charming thing during our stay was the chef; there wasn’t a menu - he just asked us what we wanted him to make us and then went from there.
