“City center but rather simple”
Reviewed September 18, 2011

The best about this hotel is its location. The city center is only for a 2 minutes walking distance. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Not much more to be excited about the hotel.
We arrived very late night and booked a hotel transfer with our rooms. The driver did not show up so we had to pick a taxi from the street.
I stayed for 2 days in a standard single room what was quite small and sometimes noisy because it faced a busy street. The breakfast was quite simple.
The price however is reasonable for the value it delivers.

I stayed at City Hotel in the first week of September and I found it very good. It has an exellent location, seven minutes away from the main square, surrounded by very good restaurants and bars, and is close to a supermarket, you could buy anything you need. It is in a quite area as well. I stayed in a standard single room (simple room) for 50 eur including breakfast. This price also included breakfast. The room was very clean and also had internet access. The staff is helpful, professional and most importantly, multilingual. What I found really good was the 24 hours pick up and drop facilities to and from the airport. Its also no problem if one is with a car as there is a safe parking place close by, available for a nominal price of around 2.5 euros.

I stayed at City Hotel Tirana for two nights on a motorbike tour around South-East Europe. Getting to Albania from Montenegro was a bit of a challenge due to terrible road conditions, while the new highway to Kosovo was excellent.

The hotel's location is nice: very close to the city center and the upscale Blloku neighbourhood, with lots of nice restaurants and cafeterias nearby. There was also a supermarket in the same block which seemed to be open 24 hours a day.

I had a small single room, which was located on the ground floor facing the entrance pathway. The room was clean and nicely furnished, but there were surprisingly many signs of wear and tear. Towel rails and other fittings had worked loose. The wash basin looked like it was about to collapse. One of the bedside tables would have collapsed if the bed had not been wedged to support it.

The bathroom was really tiny. The shower was just a pipe coming out of the wall in one corner; it was just there in the open, and there was no shower curtain. Thus there is no way to prevent the water from spraying everywhere while taking a shower. Moreover, the floor was not properly sloped, and not all water went to the floor drain. No wonder the bathroom door has been deteriorated by water.

Reception staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast buffet, included in the very reasonable room rate, was all right.

There is a guarded car parking in the same block. I parked my motorbike there and paid 2 euros per night.

The location of the hotel is good, in the Bllock area. The check-in and check-out was quick and easy. Sleeping quality nice. Breakfast was also ok. Ony drawback was that the when showering water could flood the floor so I had to shower for a minute and then wait for 2 minutes for the water to vanish. Apart from that everything was fine at City hotel. Well worth the 36 Europ I spent on a small single room.

This hotel is in a good location close to the Blokk area (shops, cafes) and an easy walk to Scanderbeg Square (currently under construction!). It's down an alley so relatively quiet and next to the Primeminister's place so very safe as his security patrols the street outside. This is reassuring if you're a woman travelling alone. There's also a handy 24 hour minimarket very close by for snacks, drinks and more.
The room I had was compact but clean and functional. I could just about see a mountain in the distance from my window but the hotel is in a built up area. Some upper floor rooms have balconies.
Breakfast was fine and included croissants, ham, cheese etc. Staff seem pleasant and try to help. They speak good English and can also organise tours for you.

Room Tip: Double check they are clear about airport pick up!

The front desk staff is fluent in English. The room was clean. The hotel is very convenient to the local restaurants and shops. There was no English language TV in the room.
