“DPRK going crazy w monuments, this look-alike tops Paris copy..!”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 1, 2012

lets not forget for what those monuments are errected, to propagate the Juche idea, etc, sole leadership of Workers party of Korea, etcetc... it must have cost a fortune, but in a country, where a single human life is not really accounted for as tangible value and all are in for Juche-kommunism, the bill to built the Arch was probably not worth mentioning...

So YES, it tops Paris by 1m, and its splendid, but again, do not foget that it has a deeper message to sginal to people of DPRK that the system they live in is superior to US imperialism, etc and as such the monument fulfills a totalitary function to keep individuals small and docil in the light of the KIM family.

“It's big!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 24, 2012

What can I say? They are pround that it is bigger the the Arc de Triomphe and it is an imposing structure. I don't know if you can go up it inside, but we just stopped to take photos.

“A beautiful monument symbolizing the resistance of Korea to Japan”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 28, 2011

Japan occupied Korea for 40 years and Kim Il Sung, the Korean President was directly involved in the resistance for 20 years. It is composed of 25,500 blocks to represent the life of Kim Il Sung until his 70th birthday. You can go inside the Monument and see nice views of the capital.

“An ugly copy of Arc de Triumph”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 22, 2011

The monument looks like Arc de Triumph in Paris, we don’t like copied things so it was not an amazing memory to us. We saw many people and students gathered in the big square nearby for some marching preparation, and this is the more exciting part to see than the Arch gate.
