It was the perfect stay. Good location walking distance to center in a quiet neighborhood, very clean, comfortable and reasonable priced.
Everyone was incredibly nice, relaxed and helpful and arranged some of our trips.

The location of the guest house is ideal, walking distance from the center and a rather calm neighbourhood. The service and staff are very kind. The room and facilities are very good. We did not try the breakfast because we thought it was very overrated as you can have breakfast in town for 1/4 of the price :) Highly recommend this place and I'll be back!

Room tip: The rooms on the left of the 3rd floor get less sun and are cooler (room 305 for example). The shared bathrooms are just fine.

Very happy with this accommodation, which was a real oasis in Sao Tome. The location is good, just a few minutes walk away from the main market, and also near a couple of bakeries. The property is very well run, the cleaners do a fantastic job and the rooms, showers and kitchen area were kept very clean. Reception staff were great (big thanks to all of them, nothing is too much trouble for them), as were the restaurant staff. Very soon you become part of the 'family' at this guest house, the welcome there is wonderful.

Only a couple of small minor points....the whole island is suffering electricity problems so there are a few hours here without power (they have a generator for most of the time, but not always). Also, the walls in the old building are a little thin (on the 3rd floor at least) so you may hear your neighbours if they are noisy. Internet signal in rooms at the far end was weak as well, but fine in the lounge and kitchen areas.

So overall, a great place to stay, clean, well-run and with fantastic staff. I cannot see any point to pay a LOT more money for the few hotels in Sao Tome, as the Sweet Guest house was such a good budget choice. The staff here were fantastic, the location great and the place so clean.

Highly recommended !!!

Room tip: Believe that all rooms in the new building are en-suite.

At the moment you enter the Sweet Guest House you feel home. The staff is so nice (special hug for Abdel and Bemilton!). The collective areas are very cosy and the kitchen well equiped. The location is really amazing and allows you to do everything by foot.

What an amazing welcome to a new Country! The staff at the Sweet Guesthouse speak excellent English and were very helpful in all our questions. They collected us from the airport as well as changing money for us (and telling us where in town to get a better rate of exchange). The place itself is clean, tidy - comfortable beds and nice ensuite bathroom. We were in the new wing which was was quite another guest did mention the rooms in the older part were noisier. The Sweet Guesthouse also organised car hire from Pago and this worked very well for us. The rates were great and we had a great Jimny for 5 days.
Location is good. About a 10-15 minute walk to most places in town and easy and safe to walk around, even at night. The Guesthouse has a full time guard and security was great. We were very happy with our stay and are going back again before we leave São Tomé. We also thought it was good value for money. The breakfast is good and I’d recommend the traditional omelette which is very tasty with lots of local herbs.
