The apartment is located near the market just off the main street in Papeete. We met Jerome there after taking a taxi to the street on which the unit is located. Then, we had to take our luggage up 95 steps to the apartment on the 5th floor. Jerome assisted us in this task. The unit is a studio with a small table and chairs at the gable window, a comfortable bed and a seating area with a coffee table beside the TV. A desk that we used for our computer is also in this area. The bathroom has a good shower with plenty of hot water and a separate sink area nearby. Our main disappointment was with the kitchen area as we were intending to do all our meals, but there were a few pots and some counter space, but not too many utensils and dishes. A nice "pod" coffee maker and a small frig were useful. There were an issue with a couple of roof leaks when it rained heavily in the kitchen on our last day. We did enjoy the view and on our first morning saw the Queen Elizabeth II come into port at 6:30 in the morning. We also ate at the "roulettes" as an alternative to cooking on occasion. The Champion supermarket is five blocks away that Jerome told us about. I am only saying no to "Would I recommend this holiday rental to a friend" because with the broken elevator, it would be a problem for some people to constantly climb up the stairs to the unit. We had no problem though, as we exercise regularly. One can walk everywhere from the apartment in the city easily. It is a short walk to get the bus to travel to out of town sites.
We were met by Jerome's daughter. Lovely young lady who assisted us with our luggage. First appearance from outside not good. Gross entrance. Dirty passages, elevator and stairwell. Just looking at the entry door to Jerome's apartment and comparing it to the other doors tells you that this is something different. However, once you get inside it is like stepping into a different world. Everything is neat and clean. The apartment is simple and basic, but it has everything you need. And then you get the view overlooking the harbour. That alone is worth the money. We thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast in the mornings and relaxing in the evenings watching the beautiful sunsets. Throughout the whole booking process Jerome was very efficient with his communication which made things so much easier.
Jerome, thanks you for sharing your little haven with us.
This was our second stay at Jeromes apartment - accommodation was once again ideal for our needs! Jerome is a great host and we appreciated being able to simply let ourselves in on our return to Papeete.
This compact apartment, right in the heart of downtown Papeete, was perfect for us during our recent short stay in Tahiti. It has good amenities, including a washing machine; is very close to the Marche Papeete and other retail outlets and is a short walk from the famed "Roulettes" of Place Vai'ete.
Host Jerome and his daughter Benedicte, were extremely helpful and we are looking forward to another short stay at the end of this month. We highly recommend this apartment, especially for couples.
We were visiting family who had their boat tied up in the Marina, which we could see from our window, plus great view to Moorea. I was pleased that I had read a previous review saying not to be worried by the entrance or the lift, because I did wonder where we were going, but the loft apartment is great.
Jerome was very helpful meeting us earlier when our flight arrived early. He also responded very quickly, and efficiently to a minor problem we had.
Very handy to the food market, and the food carts, which are open in the evening and a fun place to eat.
Location, location, location! Only half a block from the famous Papeete market, in the midst of shopping, restauants, and the bustle that is the capital, Jerome's rental apartment has it all. Located on the 4th floor, the cozy remodled attic space has a small but well equipped kitchen, a generous living /bedroom area and a bathroom that Jerome has even stocked with shampoo, etc. Plus there is a washing machine and laundry soap that every traveler is grateful for! The front window looks out over the harbor and the sunset view with the island of Moorea in the distance is spectacular! We ate our breakfast at the little window table every morning and watched the ferries go back and forth. Don't be put off by the exterior of the apartment building or it's tiny elevator. Both look run down but the actual apartment is very modern, clean and comfortable. Now for Jerome and Elisabeth.....They are both so kind and welcoming! Our arrival flilght had been delayed, and Jerome arranged his work schedule so he could meet us at our convenience to do the key exchange. They took us to the food carts (also very close to the apartment) to share our first dinner in Tahiti. They are excellent hosts !
