Owner description: Mihiarii Pearls is a family business specialized in selling tahitian black pearls and jewerly. We have three shops located in Tahiti, not far from the Papeete market. In our three shops, you will find a large variety of pearls starting at a price of 100 XPF ($1). And for 10 pearls bought, we give you 2 free pearls of the same price ! After choosing your pearls, you may choose settings for them. Our skilled craftsmen are able to drill pearls and assemble your jewelry. If you do not have the time or the desire to choose your pearls, we offer peerings (the pearls are already chosen to make earrings or necklace but not assembled) and pieces of jewelry. If you love pearls then you will love Mihiarii Pearls shops!

This shop was recommended to me by a local and turned out to be a great place to shop. They have buckets of pearls graded in size, colour and price. I chose a beautiful teardrop black pearl then selected a pendant setting with diamantes. When it was made up it looked stunning and cost less than $50 total! Then chose two more black pearls which were made into earrings, although be warned - it is tricky to find two pearls the same size and colour and it takes patience but it is fun!
The staff were helpful in suggesting what would and would not work.
Went back again and bought 10 loose pearls for gifts (and they gave me 4 more free!) This place cannot be beat in Tahiti. They have 3 separate stores including one upstairs in the market.

I learned about their store in the market from friends. We were on a cruise ship and only had a few hours for shopping.

I was thoroughly fascinated by being able to sit down with a bucket of hundreds of pearls all at the same price and select the one(s) I wanted!

I had it made into a ring and it was ready in about one hour. The total price was very reasonable - far less that others I had seen.

The pearl I selected was large, round, with good luster and color. I love the ring!!

This is a good place to get loose pearls. The staff are very friendly and casual. They have buckets of pearls to choose from, and in comparison to the high end jewellers (eg Robert Wan) this is good value (for example approx under 50 dollars versus 500 dollars for earrings say). Good for small souvenirs - buy loose pearls that you can set yourself, or they have someone on hand to do for you. We also buy from Robert Wan (see review)

Went in here with after being enticed by really inexpensive (I.e. less than $100 US) drop pearl pendants set out on the sidewalk. Spoke to a nice salesgirl because I was interested in finding a strand of large round pearls of very good quality for less than $1000 (quite a difficult feat). The woman led me to a large bin of pearls (3000 francs each, or approx $33 US) and said buy 30 and get 12 free. So I picked out 42 round pearls with minimal inclusions and very good luster and sized between 8 and 11 mm. Stringing on cord was an additional $72 and $33 for a silver clasp. Great deal!
