The view was beautiful as described and pictured. The drive up to the house was steep and narrow. It rained many days, also making that drive wet and slippery. Our rental car made it fine every day, but we definitely wished we had 4 wheel or at least real wheel drive. When we rented the house, we thought we would be cooking a great deal, but the groceries available at the store right near us were very limited, and we gave up and ate dinners out, mostly. It was good to have a washing machine, but with the humidity and no air conditioning, things took forever to dry. We did miss air conditioning. The master bedroom was well ventilated, but the second bedroom didn’t have much of a cross breeze, making it quite hot some nights. Also, occasionally there was a sewer smell wafting into the house, we assumed from the septic system. It never persisted, but was certainly unpleasant when it was there. Seema, the house keeper was sweet, and ended up helping us find the house the night we arrived. Also, the “ club” at Maui Bay was completely deserted. We ended up visiting other resorts as day guests every day, which was fine with them and a pleasant way to pass the days.
My family enjoyed the well equipped and charming home with incredible views. The owner is extremely easy to deal with and I would recommend the location to anyone wanting to explore the Coral Coast. Fiji is an amazing family holiday destination and Taylor's Ridge makes an amazing home away from home. Vinaka.
What can I say? We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Taylor Ridge. It was a perfect home away from home for us. We were just two adults and one child so our daughter had a massive bed all to herself. Very well equipped kitchen with a big fridge to stock up on Fiji Bitter :-)
The bathrooms are lovely, tidy and also well equipped.
The contact and instructions from Alia were great and Seema (the housekeeper) was wonderful. I was not sure what to expect from having a housekeeper in smaller house with only 3 people but she allowed us to dictate when we needed her.
On the first day I told her we were heading for Sigatoka to go shopping. She offered to come along and help. I am so glad we said yes. It helped us to get to know each other and she was a wonderful guide helping us go to all the right areas and not get harnessed by pushy salesmen. We bought some groceries for her and she cooked us a wonderful meal on our second night.
Seema also acted as our guide to the local waterfalls which was also a stand out experience for our family.
It was quite windy well were were staying however the BBQ and deck area is on the sheltered side of teh house so we got top enjoy the sunset on the deck every night.
Beautiful views and warm temperatures made it a very enjoyable holiday home.
I would recommend having a car and trying to do most of your shopping in Sigatoka as the local supermarket is very expensive.
Our daughter already misses Seema, but we are staying in contact just in case we can make it back to the Coral Coast again.
Thank you for a wonderful stay it was awesome :-)
Taylor Ridge is an ace option if you're after a self contained house in Fiji. Its an ideal set up for families or small groups of friends at a very reasonable rate when you consider the properties size and location.
I picked up a rental car from Denarau Marina and really enjoyed the drive to Taylor Ridge - beautiful landscape and ocean views. The house is not far (5-10 mins) drive from some of the bigger resorts on the Coral Coast so if you feel like dining out or using their resort facilities you are welcome too.
The beach is a short drive from the house, same for Maui Bay wharf (gorgeous!). Surfers can get boat transfers out to nearby breaks too. There's a whole bunch of activities nearby (horseriding, white water rafting etc) if you're up for soft adventure but honestly I was more than content to take in the panaromic view on the verandah, relax with a wine and enjoy a home made dinner - note the kitchen at Taylor Ridge is open plan and equipped with all you need. I picked up supplies from fresh produce stands along the main road and from the nearby Maui Bay supermarket.
I like the lay out of the house, big windows and doors to take in the EPIC view and allow the cooling trade winds to breeze through. The master bedroom also has a great ocean outlook and comfy bed!
Overall a peaceful place that has everything you need too unwind in Fiji.
What a lovely stay and so very private. An even fantastic housekeeper Luisa who is a very patient, hospitable, friendly and caring person. You don't know how wonderful it was to have a local knowledgeable person assist us.
Thank you for the homemade chicken curry, it was absolutely delicious and appreciated.
Thank you Taylor Ridge for the hire car through Immys and especially to Raffa!
We did and saw so much, Nadi, Lautoka, Suva, The Outrigger, The Naviti, the Maui Bay and the local beaches.
Fiji is full of friendly people we shall forever remember our wonderful time.
Our entire stay was for 8 nights, 9 days with 2 adults and 2 children. It is a great place for all. Whether it's for a private get away or for families. For us personally, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay as it was like a 'Home away from home' and we opted not to stay at a hotel purely for that reason.
On one afternoon, we had a BBQ for family who were staying close by and it was perfect. We had so much space as well as watching the afternoon sunset.
I would happily recommend to friends and family in the future as well.
Thank you very much from my mother, 2 nieces aged 3 & 4 and myself xo
We had a wonderful stay at Taylor Ridge with two young children (1 + 4 years) this month. It was just after Cyclone Zena and the owners were fantastic in making sure everything was up and running again and we had all we needed.
The house has a great feel and is well setup. After staying in a resort for a week it was nice to have our own space, be able to cook for ourselves and also have separate rooms so there's somewhere to sit after the children are in bed. There are plenty of games and books as well as a TV (which we didn't use, so I can't comment on). The owner installed a new internet service whilst we were there which was working really well.
The king size bed in the main bedroom is firm and comfortable and it was great to have an ensuite as well as the main bathroom. The second bedroom was set up for us with two single beds. There's also an extra bed in the attic space. The house was really well set-up for children with a big toy box, portable cot, highchair and kids plastic cups and bowls available.
The house is up the hill from the highway on an unpaved road so a car would be recommended. There is plenty to do in the area and we enjoyed visiting Kula Eco Park, Natadola beach, the Sigatoka Sand Dunes and riding on the dinky little ex-sugar cane train, the Coral Coast Scenic Railway (which, by the way, now only runs between Shangri-La’s Fijian Resort and Sigatoka; it no longer runs to Natadola beach). We also made us of the swimming pool at the Maui Bay Clubhouse just nearby and ate one night at the Eco Cafe.
We had a wonderful relaxing stay and would love to return.

Good value compared to a resort but a few maintenance issues in the new house still being ironed out: hot water didn't work straight away, internet flaky (Fiji though). Noisy neighbours. Basically great for older kids but with toddler was easier in resort where you can just step out to things. But was great having separate room and that's the reason we got it. Nice and new inside.
