We spent 5 nights at Bedarra and found it very good value for money. The rooms were large with plenty of room for all of us. Had a king size bed, plus a single, large wardrobe, 2 lounge chairs and coffee table, plus a small dining room table with 2 chairs and still had plenty of room to spare. The only downside was that they said the room had a fridge, but it was just a water cooler with a small section underneath. We had one at home and it was classed as can cooler. But it did the job as we were only in the room to sleep, spent most days out and about.

Found the meals to be good value although if you paid/asked for a full breakfast but didn't want everything it worked out cheaper to buy your hot breakfast individually. Ate dinner at hotel most nights after trying the two small places down the road. All food was of a high standard with large filling portions.

Loved the half price happy hour. The cocktails were to die for, strong as well. Ended up in bed early one night after 3 cocktails had me as drunk as a skunk.lol

Found some of the staff to be a bit aloof, and others very friendly. Carter as usual had them all loving him.

Loved laying on the sun lounger across the road from hotel overlooking the water. Only got to swim once as was low tide whenever I had a spare minute.

Overall I would say if you are after clean affordable no frills accom. then this is the place to go. We would definietly stay here again.

Beautiful venue, welcoming ambience providing a hassle free holiday. Excellent base for independent travellers desiring either a quiet holiday or participaing in tours. Inexpensive on-site taxis a plus. Extremely helpful staff.m clean and well maintained premises. Excellent food in restaurant overlooking beach. We appreciated easy access to the sandy beach and safe coral lagoon.

Why does Bedarra Beach Inn get the top rating from us? That's a good question and I'll try to give my best answer.

First of all we have absolutely no complaints with our stay at Bedarra (how often can you say that) and feel that we chose the perfect place for our needs. We chose Bedarra Beach Inn because we wanted to stay near Sigatoka for shopping and the area's various sightseeing activities (even though we didn't end up doing a great deal), we wanted to have access to the water for snorkelling and our budget was reduced after we decided to do the Blue Lagoon Cruise. We also liked the option of having other dining opportunities nearby. Also, I should say here that we don't usually enjoy the large resort scene and try to find smaller, more personal lodgings with fantastic staff. The last, but very personal and important factor on our wish list was finding a place with daily local, live music. Bedarra Beach Inn looked great on paper, gets consistently great reviews and was even better in reality on all counts.

I can only reiterate what has been said in the past. The rooms are enormous, they are spotlessly clean and smell wonderful. We booked a deluxe room and it had a king sized bed, fan and A/C, lounge/day bed, lots of lighting and reading lamps, fridge, tea and coffee facilities, small dining table and chairs and a balcony with table and chairs. The large bathroom had a shower (no bath) and a good supply of toiletries. We were on the ground floor and had a view of the garden and pool area, not really an ocean view without standing in the right position. If you want an ocean view I would suggest that you request a top floor unit. We were quite happy with our position and didn't spend too much time in the room anyway. That's due to the fantastic afternoon/evening entertainment and exceptionally cheap "Happy Hour".

Happy hour is from 5-6pm every day and is heralded by the beating of the drum which is next to the pool. All drinks, including cocktails are half price. That makes cocktails FJ$7.50, Fiji Bitter around FJD2.50 and white wine about FJD 3.80. On top of that, bowls of snacks are served and the wonderful band is playing music with a local flavour and you can join them for the nightly Kava ceremony. My partner is a musician and the Bedarra musicians Mike and Rupeni eagerly invited him to join them each evening (after happy hour of course) even though that was not our intention. They made us both feel so welcome we returned for more of their company after dinner. To say that we thoroughly enjoyed sitting in the circle on the floor listening and clapping along with their music is an understatement. We only wish that more accommodation providers valued live music more highly and realised what it can provide tourists in terms of overall experience and in a cultural sense.

The bar and small lounge area is a very comfortable and social setting for meeting people, chatting and taking in the live music on offer. We did meet some wonderful people from all over the world during our short 3 night stay. Some nights the place does fill up with guests from the Outrigger who stay on for a meal. You can book a table, but we chose to eat around 8pm each night after enjoying the entertainment and chatting with new friends and staff, so there were always plenty of tables available.

I have reviewed The Ocean Terrace Restaurant separately and I can't fault the food or the service. The restaurant staff and all hotel staff, including band members, bar and front desk staff, groundsmen and cleaning staff all make this place the happy, relaxing haven that we found it to be.

There are no organised activities during the day and you don't really need them, there is enough to keep you occupied. Besides lazing by the pool or ocean front, we visited Sigatoka, Tavuni Hill Fort (see review), walked the area and visited Le Cafe just up the road and a quick look at The Outrigger (way, way too big for us) and walked to Korotoga Village shops just for fun. We went snorkeling right off the beach and although it's not the best coral, we found plenty of sea life to look at. Besides all that, there are plenty of other sightseeing opportunities to be had very close by.

We had 12 nights in Fiji, but our 3 nights at Bedarra Beach Inn made our holiday into the amazing experience that we had wanted it to be thanks to comfort level, amazing staff, some pretty great Happy hours/evenings and an overall feeling of being welcome.

Thank you to all the staff and management.

This hotel is a wonderful balance between over-modern and traditional. It has great staff who offer a genuine welcome and good service to make you feel at home. It retains the feel of a locally owned hotel with great views, where you can relax. It is always difficult to judge quality against price online... in the Bedarra Beach's case quality is high and the price relatively low... who could want more than that!

This place has the best food and food prices on the Coral Coast. Guests from the Outrigger up the road were regular diners here. The room and wait staff were fantastic.
The pool leaves a lot to be desired. The tiles in the pool and pool coping are falling off.
There is no grout between the coping and pool tiles leaving sharp edges. The pool was dirty on at least 3 days of our stay. Guests with children were walking up to Outrigger to use their pool. They didn't seem to mind. We were there for 2 weeks and were totally ignored by the owners. They sat at their private end of the bar every evening and ignored their guests. One "hello" and a " how you going " would have been nice. Thank God for the Fijian staff. Take reefwalkers as they are difficult to locate in town. Taxis from airport are cheaper than transfers. Would we go back? Probably.

Room Tip: Ask for an upstairs room with a view of the beach.

We stayed at the Bedarra Inn for 5 nights and were happy with the spacious, clean and quiet room. All staff was very friendly and made us feel welcome. Also the food was great (and inexpensive). We definitely recommend the tropical fruit punch and cocktails on offer, yummy! The gardens, beach, pool etc. are very clean and well maintained. Our compliment to everyone taking care of this beautiful place. One word of advise though, during ebb tide swimming in the sea is not really possible. We've also seen better snorkelling out in the Yasawas. However, the hotel is the best we stayed at in the whole of Fiji. We can definitely recommend it.
