“"Does exactly what it says on the tin"”
Reviewed August 10, 2013

This beautiful retreat 2 hours away from Nadi town, "does exactly what it says on the tin", and will not let you down. My partner and I stayed here a week ago for four nights and after our wonderful stay at Namuka Bay, we went on to one of the 5* island resorts off the mainland. This is NOT what Namuka is about, so if that's what you're looking for don't go here.

Namuka is all about getting back to basics, it's very cheap to stay here, but that doesn't mean the quality isn't 10/10. Shmelly, Olay and Annie are your top 3 staff for the personal experience (get Shmelly and the dogs to take you to the limestone caves to hear the Fijian folk stories) they were all so personable, couldn't do enough for us and made our stay so special.

All in all we loved Namuka. The location is amazing, it's off the beaten track though so my top tip is to be prepared. Bring some of your own entertainment if you get bored of sunbaking and reading all day (as there is not much else to do, remember that there is no electricity in the day and no-where else to really go at night) so bring along a bat and ball, some playing cards and some snacks if you don't want to have a big meal for lunch, as unfortunately there is no supply of snacks such a chips, ice cream etc.

If you want authentic Fiji, go here, you won't be disappointed.

Room Tip: Splash out on an extra $10 a night and get your own beach bure, they're HUGE and worth every pen...

This retreat is exactly as was promised. A gorgeous, quiet sanctuary right on the beach on the Coral Coast. The view alone is magnificent and the clear water is right on your doorstep. The staff are fantastic and will do anything to make you welcome. I left my reading glasses on the plane and they organised to drive me back into Nadi to retrieve them. The food is fantastic and fresh, all grown organically on the farm and fresh caught seafood is served every day -- you can eat lobster every night if you let the kitchen know that's what you want. There is no electricity in the day, so charge your devices at night. There are two lovely dogs who live there who will keep you company for walks on the beach. For value, this cannot be beaten, and as an authentic Fiji experience it should be on anyone's list for those of us who don't like big resorts. However, if you want to spend a night or two at the neighbouring 5 and 7 star resorts, the Namuka staff can get you there too. We spent one night at the Shangri La and spent the whole time wishing we were still in our lovely villa at Namuka. We spent most time just swimming, eating, reading and sleeping, though there is kayaking and trekking to waterfalls if that's what you would prefer. We can't wait to go back and experience this amazing little place again next year, this time for longer than 6 nights.

Room Tip: All the rooms are great, and there are only three villas with a maximum of 12 people staying at any...

I stayed 3 nights. The resort was precisely as advertised, the staff were great and the food tasty. This is a nice spot if you wish to relax away from the major resorts, excellent for a 3-4 night stay

We were lucky enough to stay at namuka bay lagoon for 6 nights. The resort exceeded our expectations on every level. Location, service, friendliness, food. Hardest decisions were what to have for our next meal! There is lots to do if you are happy to make your own fun. Beach, lagoon swimming and snorkelling are very good. Special mention has to go to the management and staff. All are genuine and want you to have a great time. Rooms are big and just steps away from the water. Only suggestion would be that the mattress needed updating. All in all we loved our stay and will be back

Namuka Bay Resort is truly THE jewel of the coral coast. Set off the beaten track this resort offers an element of adventure for the wanderers as well as luxury for those with finer taste. The staff provide their guests with a variety of options to keep occupied and the serenity and stunning surroundings provide a brilliant backdrop when it's time to just relax. Fiji Time.
Originally picking this place just for a 2 night stay over my 27th birthday, we left reluctantly having just experienced literally the finest service within this industry EVER. We returned toward the end of our holiday in Fiji so we could spend my partners birthday here as well.
To our new friends Mohammad, Simon, Sylvia and the staff we didn't have a chance to meet properly, we will forever remember our special time there with fondness. Thank you for your kindness, all the interesting discussions we had and the great meals you provided. We will happily spread the word about your little paradise and will surely return as soon as we can make it happen. Look forward to it.

We stayed here for two nights. We wish we could have stayed for two years. Mohammed the manager is such a nice person and goes out of his way to help you in every possible way. Sylvia the cook, provides delicious, cheap, generous sized meals. Simon is just an amazing person. He showed us so many new and interesting things, and went out of his way to make us comfortable. At this resort you are really made to feel like part of the family. The accommodation is basic but serviceable, and if you spend more time in your room then just sleeping you need a reality check. This resort is fronted by a magnificent reef, and there are so many interesting things to see and do. Excellent value for money and I truly recommended a stay here.
We are already planning a return trip!
