“River, 4 wheel drive & caves experince”
Reviewed November 2, 2013 via mobile

Wonderful Fiji adventure away from beaches & focus on sun.
You need to first travel to Sigatoka River to the safari headquarters then they take you to the massive river crossing site. They barged the 4X4 vechicle across the river. It had been raining the day we went so that added to the adventure!
Interesting that the road up to the limestone caves takes you through some villages.
We had a kava ceremony with local village chief to get permission to access the caves & he came as an escort.
An extensive series of caves - amazing stories of how they had used them over time.

I was not happy that a woman on the tour had bought lollies to throw / give to the children of the villages. I found it belittling for them. It's obvious that dental care is v limited - many young adults have teeth missing. The diets of the people in villages is mostly still quite basic/good/healthy/home grown or caught (ie without processed fat/sugar laden foods). What was she thinking??!! I did speak with others on tour & discussed how bringing new clothes or pencils & basic school/colouring/educational materials for the children was recommended to us when we last visited Fiji.

Anyway, the trip was great, the Safari staff are great - it's thoroughly recommended! !
It was a full day for us as we were staying at Vuda Point - up near Lautoka.

“Great experience. Great tour guides Josephine and Ben.”

Great off roading adventure into the interior of Fiji outside Sikatoga. Very interesting history of Fiji people in this area. Very friendly Fiji people along the way. Visit to the local priest to obtain permission to enter the caves... Traditional Kava ceremony before gaining permission. Adventure into the caves very different from other caves we have experienced. Up to knee high in water and bending very low to enter one particular cave.. Great experience... Well worth it...

“A lot of fun for the whole family”
Reviewed October 21, 2013

We really enjoyed our afternoon trip on the Sigatoka Off-Road Cave Safari. We chose the off-road safari over the jet boat trip as we wanted to see more of the countryside and Fijian villages and we were not disappointed. It's lovely to drive through villages and countryside and see the children waving and shouting out "Bula!" as we went by and to see how they live, how far it is between villages and homes and see people engaged in the everyday activities of life in Fiji. The terrain is beautiful and the ride is bumpy and fun - adding just the right level of adventure. The cave tour is interesting and really different, and the lunch they prepared was great. Our guide & driver were very knowledgable, kind and patient. If you haven't experienced a kava ceremony elsewhere, this is a good way to do it and to understand what it means and how it works. My children, 8 & 10, also enjoyed the tour, so its definitely something the whole family can enjoy.

On a side note, I purchased the photo they took at the beginning of the tour and it promised the ability to download the digital file for free after the tour (which is what I was most interested in). Apparently they were using a new system for this and I encountered some problems downloading my photo afterwards. I sent an email to them and was impressed with how diligent they were about following up and making sure that I got my photo. The company is very professional and well run.

Decided that same morning to go on the afternoon tour. Enjoyed the journey there with some really fun Fijian tour guides. Journey can be a bit long to see the cave only for 30-40 minutes, as interesting as it was. Didn't get to the a river swim as stated in the itinerary, which was disappointing. Felt a bit put-off by the lady owner whom after the tour, pushed for me to buy $20 individual family photos taken in front of the safari 4WD...I had to keep insisting the photos were not even of me! She only realised her mistake when another person came up to us to claim their photo. Overall, good for an afternoon if you feel like some time out from your resort, to see the adorable villagers, experience a kava ceremony and get to know about the ways of life of past Fijian clans.
