Take a guided tour with one of the local guides who can provide so much detail for you. Altough the pathways are quite dilapidated( you need firm walking shoes) the view from the top of the river and surroundings is beautiful.

Only a small tour but packed with information about Fiji's early ancestors. Remarkably detailed information about old old village life.Lovely walk to the top of the mountain and well worth it for the amazing view.

This was a short walk to look at the history of cannibalism and tribal warfare between Fiji & Tonga. It included viewing the ruins of a village and is all done with your own tour guide. The killing stones and the commentary help you to visualise what it was like.

For some reason the Tavuni Hill Fort isn't on the tourist route and none of the commercial tours seem to go there. Why? It's a fabulous slice of history, it's in a beautiful setting and Albert, our guide, was a mine of information. It's an easy taxi ride out of Singatoka; allow about an hour to look around. And don't forget to check out the pictures of the cannibals in action - no kidding!

Our guide spent a great deal of time with us answering all of our historical and cultural questions. It was very interesting to learn about and some fantastic scenery.
