This place has some really good things going for it, and some real challenges. Overall, it's a nice place, but I wouldn't stay here again if I returned to Fiji.
The friendliness of the people is their strongest point. Every staff member greets you with "bula" (welcome) each time they see you, and they learn your name. Flowers on your bed each time your room is made up is a wonderful idea.
The resort is set between the highway and the ocean, but road noise never bothered us. It's on a lagoon, so when the tide is out you can't swim or snorkel in the shallow water. But the one period a day when you can snorkel it is really good. It is especially good snorkeling for beginners because there's lots to see even where it is shallow enough to stand up. It's disconcerting that they schedule things like village tours during high tide.
Our room was excellent. We had an ocean front duplex bure with an outside (and inside) shower. We never used the inside shower. The room was large, but the one chair was hard to sit on. We sat out on the porch often. There is no TV or radio, and internet access is an extra charge.
Breakfast is included with your room. However, you can get an all inclusive package for F$135 per person per day. The limitations were quite restrictive--it's good 10 AM to 10 PM, only local draft beer of wine or spirits, everyone in your room has to take it for the whole time. We didn't get it, and lived happily on about F$55 pp/day.
We were given a copy of our bill the day before we checked out. I pointed out that we had been double charged for lunch the previous day and asked that the extra charge be removed. When we checked out the following day, the duplicate charge was still on our bill, and then it was finally removed. Friendliness does not equal competence.

Room Tip: There are a lot of choices of ocean views. Make sure you get a room with an outside shower.

Great holiday at a great price. Rooms were lovely, meals great but I would have liked more variety, Staff were wonderful especially Voli and Jewel. The trio singing outside our bures and in the restaurant were great. All our tours were booked with no problem and were excellent especially the Robinson Crusoe night cruise and show, I would certainly recommend this resort for anyone who wants a great holiday at a great price. BULA

Room Tip: If you are not really fit I would recommend a bure close to the pool and restaurant, We stayed in bu...

This was our 2nd visit to Fiji Hideaway Resort, our 1st being in Dec 2012. This time we took our 2 children aged 21 & 19 (last time they were on a cruise and at schoolies). Again we were treated like family returning home. We were worried the kids would find it a bit quiet at this resort but they had a great time just like we did the 1st time we visited. The staff are what make the difference - first names are remembered quickly and every greeting is so warm and friendly. Hello to Voli, Tagi, Mallee, Tavu, Adelaide.....

This time we opted for an all-inclusive package which worked out well especially with the new venues available for lunch and dinner the resort has put in since our last visit.

If you are into diving then catch up with the guys and girls from Diveaway Fiji who are based at the Hideaway - Gary and his team are excellent and will look after all your needs.

If you want to swim in the ocean at the front of the resort it is better on the western side (to the right looking out to sea). Snorkelling is better on the eastern side (to the left looking out to sea).

Noticed there are some mixed reviews below but we had no problems with food; rooms; service etc. One must remember this is Fiji and the Hideaway is not part of some international hotel chain with international standards of service but it is one great family oriented truly Fijian resort.

Nice place for a relaxed holiday, staff are the top with friendlessness, a few kids, could be a bit wild with young Adults. A bit of a walk from some rooms but clean and tidy. The price is fair and not luxury Resort but. Food was well priced, obviously Rodrigo B is a Maccas man. Good menu also for lunch and dinner, also beach hut for good snacks for lunch. Service for drinks at lunch and dinner could be improved by specialists bar waiters only at meal times. ( would also make them more money ) I seen noelfrancis56 seemed to be enjoying himself and did look after Mum & Dad air con not working no good but good to see you going back. Overall relaxing holiday place away from the bustling cities in Fiji. Thanks guys.

Room Tip: perhaps ask for room close to bar and restaurants

This place is far far faaaar away from any city or villa of fiji... it is in the middle of nowhere... so if u are looking for escape of ur life... perfect place ..... otherwise... if u want to know fiji... dont stay here...

Bad points,
.extremely expensive food
.too many kids everywhere
.kayak and snorkel are available according to water conditions (from 7am to 5pm)
.any problem.. u will receive a answer like this "sorry here is fiji" (they forgot our valentines day dinner booking and they didnt prepare anything for us .. so.. they distroyed my romantic day)
.they are too relax (poor service)
.owners are indians... so u will see... everything is about MONEY...

My husband and I had been flying, sitting in airports, or driving for about 36 hours before arriving at Fiji Hideaway. We were welcomed warmly with sensational tropical juice and told that our room wasn't ready yet (it was ~9am) but to please go help ourselves to breakfast and feel free to use the pool. We enjoyed the best snorkeling either of us has experienced. It was fun to take the kayaks out over the reef lagoon. FYI...surfing in front of the resort is not beginner friendly by east coast USA standards and the paddle out is quite far. The breakfast buffet impressed us every morning, as did the view from our room. The pool area maybe could have used another umbrella or two as they seemed in high demand. All the staff and locals were super friendly and made us feel very comfortable! The air conditioning was not excited to work as hard as we wanted but it did OK. It was very fun to have a flower arrangement put in the room daily. We wanted to participate in the mountain trek activity but it was always scheduled for 2pm and I would have liked to go early in the morning when the heat wasn't as bad. We loved the band playing by the pool, on their garden walk in the evening, and at meals!

Hi everyone I just got back home after a disappointing trip with my parents who are both in there 80 tys now ive been to this resort 4 times before and never had a problem but this time wow it was a nightmare from start to finish. The first four days were spent trying to find a room that had aircon finally on the 5 th day they put a new aircon system in. The staff at the resort are excellent cant say that about the management team though I am going back in November to see if things are any better if not then I wont be going back again if it wasn't for the staff bending over backwards for my mum and dad there would be no chance of us ever going back. I will say that the food has been very average there now as the old menu is now alarcart. lol cant spell it who cares you get the point. If you are planning to visit this hotel id make sure everything in your room is working before you hand over any cash.
