Me and my Husband were married in Mrach in the most beautiful chapel you will ever see, with a view to die for. We 2 small children that had an absolute ball and did not want to leave the resort, I can not fault the place the food is unreal, the staff are the friendliest people on earth compared to us Australian's, everyone was commenting on the price of the food first of all you have to expect it to be a little expensive you are going to a resort any where in the world would be pricey, meals cost more in the heart of Sydney and you would not get the service or quality that you pay for in Fiji. We are hoping to return for our 1 year Anniversary and are looking forward to it very much.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review of your recent holiday and wedding at Outrigger on the Lagoon . Fiji. We are delighted that you and your family had such a wonderful occasion!
I was also pleased to read that your two children did not wish to leave the resort – This actually occurs quite often! As you have stated, the friendliness of the Fijian people is second to none! I also thank you for your positive comments in relation to our meals – We seriously believe that the cost of goods at the resort is very reasonable indeed!

We have stayed at the Outrigger twice and cannot fault this resort. We travelled there for the first time in 2010 as a couple following a recommendation from another couple. We loved it from the minute we got there. The service is impeccable and so friendly. We had a beautiful room overlooking the resort the first time we stayed here, which was spacious and very clean. On our second stay (we decided to bring the whole family) we stayed in ocean front rooms, which were also beautiful and clean. The resort was also able to place our five rooms in close proximity, which was helpful as we travelled with elderly grandparents. The Bebe Spa is a great experience and the view from up there is amazing. The Kalokalo Bar is also definitely worth visiting, the tapas and the cocktails are delicious. Our favourite restaurant would be the Sundowner. Every dish we had was beautiful. The best thing about the Sundowner is the live singer. He has the most beautiful voice and really adds to the atmosphere. Our whole family was so happy with our experience there and everyone would love to return.

We are delighted that you enjoyed your time with us! As you have highlighted in your commentary, we are blessed with a wonderful resort – How beautiful are the beachfront rooms – nothing better then to go to sleep to the sound of waves crashing on the outer reef of the lagoon!
Loved your comments on Terawa, the entertainer at Sundowner – He is such a great entertainer! The food is also exceptional.

My wife, 3 year old son and I just returned from a 5 night stay at the Outrigger Fiji. Although the weather was little average when we were there we still had such a relaxing time eating, drinking, sleeping and making the most of what the resort has on offer.

I had read a number of reviews that mentioned the prices of the food and drink were expensive. We found the prices to be very reasonable. Prices in any resort around the world are always going to be a little more than outside the resort regardless of what country you are in. The prices for food and drink at the Outrigger were similar to cafe prices in any Australian capital city such as the Coffee Club for example. The staff we extremely friendly and always very helpful. We stayed in an ocean deluxe room which are the top two levels of the main accommodation block. The rooms were your standard hotel room layout but were spacious and very clean. The canapes and drinks were a nice touch in the evening before heading of to dinner. There is a small walk from the rooms to the pool and restaurants but we found this ok especially after you have had a big meal it gave us the opportunity to walk it off.

We were able to leave our son with one of the nannies for a few hours whilst we enjoyed a spa and massage treatment and then finished with tapas and cocktails overlooking the pacific ocean from the top of the hill. Our son had a great time with the nanny and made some new friends.

One thing i do want to tell people to be careful of and this is not a fault with the resort is that you must watch what you bill to the room during your stay. If you don't want a shock when you check out make sure you keep a list of what you bill to the room. I saw some people when checking out with pages and pages of items on their bills wondering why it cost so much. I simply billed our dinners, nanny and spa/massage treatment to the room and for lunch, snacks and drinks throughout the day just paid cash. Check out was much more simple and less stressful! I highly recommend this resort to anyone and hope others share the same experience as we did.

Dear macant08
Greetings from the team at Outrigger on the Lagoon . Fiji - We sincerely thank you for your comments! We are delighted that we could provide you with such a relaxing holiday experience! As you have stated there were several days of rain but our activities team most certainly provide our guests with plenty of wet weather alternatives.
I was pleased to read that you and your family enjoyed the many and varied dining options available around the resort. As you have stated the prices are very reasonable!
I have also noted that you took advantage of the meimei nanny service! How good is it for Mums and Dads to leave their children with professional nannies so that they can go and enjoy a relaxing spa treatment or alternatively enjoy champagne and tapas at our bar in the sky, kalokalo??????
Macant08, Once again we thank you for your outstanding review! We look forward to the day when you and your family return to our beautiful resort.

We recently returned from an 8 night stay on 20 July and were very sad to leave.
We have a family of five (children 10, 8 and 5) and had adjoining ocean view rooms which provided 4 double beds and plenty of room together with good privacy, a plus over the bure some holiday friends had.
We woke each day to a beautiful view, strolled to breakfast for a buffer that satisfied the whole family and then spent most days around the pool enjoying the activities, fabulous service from the Baravi restaurant team and thoroughly enjoyed every relaxing minute.
The staff at the outrigger were fantastic and it was enjoyable to make friends with many of them over our stay. The Fijian staff really make it a wonderful place to stay and our children loved getting to know them also.
The food was fanastic whereever we chose to eat. We spent time at all the restaurants and found the food to be of excellent quality." Fiji time "did not seem to exist when it came to any of our meals. Our children often made the comment "wow, that was quick". Mum and Dad were also well looked after!
The rooms were well maintained and very comfortable, despite our limited time there, given our love of the pool lounges.
The weather in July was breezy with a few days of the trade winds but all our days bar one were spent in swimmers.
Our elder children enjoyed the kids club and made some great friends that they spent most of their time with around the pool. Or youngest did not go to kids club but this was no reflection on the wonderful staff.
We did not buy the meal plan and found that we spent about the same without constantly thinking about whether we were getting good value, something we found ourselves doing on our last trip a decade ago. Certainly more enjoyable for us.
The outrigger provides what we believe is a true Fijian holiday experience with warm weather , great people and now great service. The hotel is great for families and with some adults only facilities (which we did not sample) make this resort a place for all travelers to enjoy. The traditional performances including fire walking, fire dancing, fire lighting, cava ceremonies and Meke shows were great entertain for ourselves and the children providing great family memories.
The only thing we could fault is the timing of the high tide for our trip. Given the nature of the lagoon, water activites are only available for around two hours each day and the tides were either late or early for us. This however, did not prevent us experiencing the reef, some snorkeling, the warm water and a great beach for long walks. The local villages and coast also provided great views and interest on my runs outside the resort.
In summary, the Outrigger was a fantastic choice for a family holiday. It came highly recommended and did not disappoint. We look forward to returning and seeing our friends Dean and Armini around the pool!

Dear Ben J
Bula and Sunny greetings from Outrigger on the Lagoon . Fiji.
It sounds like you and your family had an amazing holiday! Thank you for your comments on our staff – We are definitely blessed with a wonderful team!
Also loved your comments regarding our restaurants – There is plenty of variety at very reasonable prices, particularly when you convert the prices back to Aussie dollars. We also appreciate your comments in relation to the Fijian feel and culture of our resort – This is what a holiday in Fiji is all about!
I have noted that your elder children enjoyed their time at the Kids Club – We have a very simple philosophy at Outrigger - if the children are happy then Mum and Dad are happy and can enjoy some quality time together!
Ben J, once again we thank you for your warm and generous comments – we look forward to the day when you and your family return to Outrigger on the Lagoon . Fiji.

I have been a returning guest to the Outrigger on the Lagoon since it opened, and have consistently had wonderful service and amazing experiences. A seasoned traveler, I have stayed at the Outrigger properties in Hawaii but love the Fiji one the best! The people at the Outrigger on the Lagoon Fiji are amazingly friendly, helpful and warm, something that is rare to find. Fiji is known for its friendliness, but I think the Outrigger does an even better job in training people how to use their natural friendliness.

Besides the staff, the property is beautiful, with lots to do, and the setting in Fiji makes one feel safe and secure, with the ability to walk to nearby seaside restaurants if you want a different choice of meal. The pool is second to none also, and if you have budgeted money for it, the spa (located on a hill above the resort, with great views) is a nice treat. The beach itself is the one thing that could be better, but the great pool helps make up for it.

I have stayed at the Outrigger on the Lagoon so many times that staff see me after months or years and remember my name. I believe last year I topped 20 times there!

Before I forget, the Kula Eco Park across the street is also definitely worth a visit, and is a neat bonus for staying at the Outrigger in Fiji.

Room Tip: The staff at the reception desk are pretty liberal about upgrading rooms and/or filling requests if...

Dear Fijifive
A huge “Bula” from the team at Outrigger on the Lagoon . Fiji!
Thank you for taking the time to provide comment on your recent holiday. We also thank you for your positive feedback. Returnee guests are a huge part of our business at Outrigger and I am so impressed that you have been back to the resort over 20 times – We must be doing something right!
You are 100% correct in regards to your comments on the training of our staff. Each department has their own trainer, plus we also have a full time professional employee trainer. On top of this each year we bring the Australian Butler School to the resort to train our Talai butlers and also our “fine dine” wait staff in the Ivi Restaurant.
I also concur with your comments in regards to the Kula Eco Park. This is a terrific adventure for children of all ages and it is only 5 minutes walk from the resort.
Fijifive, thank you for your wonderful comments – All of my team looks forward to the day when you return for your next visit to our beautiful resort!

We were a family of 11 people, 8 adults and 3 kids at the Outrigger for our daughters 40th Birthday for 5 days. We had the most enjoyable time as there was plenty to do for all our ages.
Two of the family groups were upgraded to top floor of the main building with butler service which was wonderful. The other two familys were 2 floors below us so we still were close. The rooms and the bathroom are very large and the beds very comfortable. Housekeeping terrific. The only thing was there was a bit of a walk from our room to the restaurants and pool but certainly do-able.
We found the buffet breakfast delicious and had plenty of choices, we also had dinner in the buffet on the Fijian night, which we enjoyed.
The weather was alittle cool when we arrived but improved.
We ate Dinner at the Sundowner restaurant and the food was terrific but expensive especially when one group of our family has to pay for 4 adults, but we did enjoy it.
We also ate one night up the road at the little cafe near the horse riding, which was very inexpensive and tasty but as they were so busy we had to wait awhile for our meal.
We found the Fijian people who work at the Outrigger very friendly and extremely helpful. After our stay we went to an Island resort and found the staff there certaily not as friendly or as helpfull.
This is our (my husband and I the senior members of the family) 3rd time on the mainland and will certainly go back to the Outrigger in preference to an island resort.
We only had a breakfast package but would certainly consider a meal package next time.

Sunny greetings from the Coral Coast!
Thank you for taking the time to write a review of your recent holiday at Outrigger on the Lagoon . Fiji. We are delighted that you and your friends had such a “wonderful” time! We are also pleased to read that you enjoyed the comfort and spaciousness of your accommodation! How good is the talai butler service? I have also noted your comments in relation to dining options – There is so much to choose from! I refer to your comments on the pricing at the Sundowner Bar and Grill. We import all of our beef from Cape Grim in Tasmania, which unfortunately incurs a 36% import tariff, but how good is the quality – A 300 gram sirloin will still only cost AUD$32.00, which is very good value indeed!
Ckaus, I was thrilled to read that you preference is to return to Outrigger on the Lagoon when you next return to Fiji. As you and your friends found out – The best part of a holiday at Outrigger on the Lagoon . Fiji is our warm and friendly staff. My whole team looks forward to welcoming you back to our beautiful resort in the not too distant future.

Stayed at the Outrigger for 10 nights, with a family (11 year old and a 16 year old). First time to Fiji and fell in love with the place and the people. We have never been to a place were the people are so warm and friendly, and not just in the resort.
The resort is 12 years old but on the whole it is a beautifully presented and maintained 5 star resort. The gardens and a joy and make you feel like you are in a Fijian village.

Food is very good in the Ivi restaurant (no kids), Sundowner Grill good, Vali ni Kana breakfast good, but evening meals were variable. The themed nights were good, Mexican and Italian, but the other nights were average, it felt like some nights need some more thought and attention. However it was easy family dining as it is a buffet, and good to take it easy for some Fiji time! We purchased the three meals a day vouchers, and they were good value, but your waistline will take a beating!
I decided to take the hotel up on there offer of a tour around the kitchens, and spent a couple of hours with the executive chef and the manager. The standard of the premises and food handling practices are good, and I viewed no "red flags" items, that would leave me to believe that there are any issues in this area. They have the water independantly checked on a monthly basis, and are working on an Australian HACCP accreditation.

The staff are just fantastic, nothing is too much trouble. The Talai butler Liaisa was just brilliant and brough the Champagne and canapés every night, she is a credit to the Outrigger! We were invited to the Cocktail party on a Thursday night and met the management team which was good to meet the team behind the resort.

We had a couple of days of which were rainy and overcast, however the wet weather activities the resort made available were good (cooking classes, cocktail making and lots for the kids) and we're a nice touch.

We will be back!

Room Tip: If you have purchased the meal vouchers you get a 12 year old and below free child's meals. If y...

Dear Davo1968,

Thank you for choosing Outrigger your holiday destination and taking the time to review your experience on trip advisor. Furthermore, it was great to personally meet you at our management cocktails and discuss the resort operations. I am delighted that you also took the time to do a behind the scenes tour of our kitchens with our Executive Chef. We often say that we welcome our guests to inspect our back of house areas, and it is great to have guests take us up on the offer. I am sure you will agree that the same attention to detail is evident back of house as it is in our guest areas. Furthermore, we take our food safety and hygiene very seriously and I am glad you noted this in your kitchen tour. Whilst we cannot control the weather, I am thrilled to read that your family took advantage of our extensive wet weather activities and had a most enjoyable holiday. It would be remiss of me not to acknowledge your feedback relating to the staff and Fijian people. Such beautiful warm and caring people who really to strive to deliver a fantastic holiday experience. As the resort manager, I am so very proud of the service our team delivers. I will of course also pass your comments on to Liaisa. Vinaka again for your kind comments and we look forward to welcoming you back to the resort on your next Fijian holiday.
