Reviewed February 22, 2014

Excellent location although a bit out of the way. The resort is the usual 5 star standard that you expect at any Intercon hotel.

The service is excellent and the grounds are beautiful. If you are staying here you must get the shuttle bus up to the golf course. It is a two mintute trip and the views are well worth it! We had lunch there and ended up staying for a couple of drinks afterwards just taking in the view. I have not played golf there - too hot & humid - but my partner has on many occasions and he loves it and said that the views are even better as you go around the course. The staff at the golf course are lovely and really went out of thier way.

The resort has a few restaurants which are good however the meals are not really 5 star standard unless you dine at Navo - which was very expensive - especially the wine, be prepared to dig VERY deeply into your pockets!! The staff were all lovely and remember what you like to drink - where you like to sit etc - which makes you feel really welcome. The non alcoholic cocktails - especially the mango cocktail are delicious and a great option intead of dessert!

The pools are beautiful and the beach is just a few steps from the main pool. The beach is lovely and the water is a warm temperature with no real waves - so perfect for children. There is a bit (a lot really) of coral on the beach but if you walk along you should be able to find a place to swim where there is no coral.

Stayed at the Intercon for 9 nights with my young family, we had a great time, kids club was great, restaurants were above average and the facilities were excellent. Stunning beaches and great snorkeling. Great staff, very welcoming and we're always smiling and friendly.

Not a fan of paying for non motorized watersports, maybe something that could be included.

Will definitely be going back.

We stayed at the Intercontinental Fiji for 8-nights in mid February.

Prior to staying at the Intercontinental, we were at another hotel on Denaru Island for the first two nights on arriving in Fiji. This was our first visit to Fiji and were still waiting to be blown away and Intercontinental did achieve this for us on many regards. The drive to Sigatoka took about 25 minutes from Denaru Island. It was a comfortable ride and very informative as our driver gave us a commentary of the island.

As soon as the private car drove into the manicured grounds of this resort, a different set of emotions set in. This can be best described as an overcoming ease and the lifting of the hustle and bustle we had felt at the first hotel in Denaru. The road leading up to the main resort impressively set against lush gardens, the azure sea and blue skies. We received a warm local Fijian welcome as soon as we stepped out of the car and were greeted by the beating of a local drum and then, a loud and hearty "Bula!" Our golf buggy drove us up the hill to Club Intercontinental as we took in the design of the resort, the landscape and just knew that this was the Fijian holiday we were after.

Check-in was fast, efficient and completed quickly whilst sitting at the lounge facing a very inviting infinity pool and sparkling Natadola Bay. Kritika ( she was very efficient, professional, informative, obliging and helpful), part of the wonderful team of butlers, explained all our benefits of the package before showing us to our ocean-view one bedroom plunge pool suite. The room was spacious and well designed, with our own private infinity plunge pool and an large bathtub built for two located outdoors. The indoor shower room had a rain-shower head.

There was torrential rain for a few days we were there and it as inevitable that there were mosquitoes around. Even though we were assured that there was daily pool cleaning and fumigation, we didn't make use of our private plunge pool and alternated our time between the main infinity pool ( which faced the Natadola Bay and was absolutely break taking) and the pool on the club level instead. On hindsight, we don't think we needed have booked a room with a private plunge pool given the other options available.

The water at Natadola Bay was stunning especially during a sunny day and calm enough for swimming and beach activities like paddle boarding, kayaking, snorkeling, etc.. Just be aware that guests would be approached by locals hanging around the front of the hotel trying to sell their services and guided tours like visits to villages, horseback riding, cave diving, kava testing, etc..

We would have loved to spend more time at the pool on the Club level except that there were no overhead umbrellas in the pool area (we were told that this was due to safety reasons and the strong winds). Overall, we very much enjoyed our accommodation at Club Intercontinental because it offered more privacy with the location is up on a hill and therefore, it was relatively more tranquil. The service and attention we received was more personalized due to exclusivity and compounded by occupancy rate during low season. We took our daily breakfast at the Club and ordered from the alacarte menu. The selection may have been limited and does not change daily but we liked the personalized service and that we were away from the crowd that you would normally expect from any large resort during breakfast hours. Getting around the resort is via a golf buggy which will be arranged for whenever you requested. As the resort is expansive, this caused us to be reliant on the golf buggy to bring us from one point to another and the wait for the buggies can sometimes a little long ( give low season).

There are three restaurants in the resort,Sanasana ( which is the buffet restaurant for breakfast and dinner and offering different themes each night), Toba Bar and Grill ( which serves wood fired pizzas, sandwiches, salads, etc.. ) and Navo ( which is the fine dining restaurant that specializes in seafood). There is only one other small resort nearby which means that dining options are quite limited. We visited all three restaurants in the resort during our stay and the one that made the deepest impression was the dinner we celebrated at Navo on Valentine's Day. The service was attentive without being intrusive, the ambience was wonderful and the food, divine.

We were recommended to take up the laundry package for the duration of our stay, which we did, and it allowed us to send unlimited pieces for laundry daily. We thought this was one of the best ideas suggested by Kritika of the Butler team.

Despite some inconsistencies in service standards ( for instance, replenishment of amenities in the room, evening turn down services), these were made up for as our needs were always promptly addressed by the butler and housekeeping teams whenever they were raised for their attention.

The stay was enjoyable and very memorable much due to the good service of the butler team on Club Intercontinental, the simply beautiful physical surrounds of the resort grounds and the wider location. There is very little that their hotel could have done to make our stay any more pleasant except to have more movie channels on their cable tv network.

Our only other tip is to stay at Club Intercontinental if the budget allows.

I have stayed in many resorts in Fiji and this one has facilities to match the best. It has lovely villas, expansive gardens, several food outlets , entertainment, a well equipped fitness centre and all you would expect of a Fiji resort. I was so glad that we didn't pay the extra and stay in the Executive Club villas, they were on the hill so far from the beach that you needed a buggy to get anywhere. Our cheaper villa was right on the water and a wonderful location. We had a great family stay and the faculties were great - but I have had better hospitality and warmth in other Fijian resorts. Breakfast was a bit cafeteria style.

Room Tip: Stay near the water.

What an amazing resort, from the moment you are greeted, you realise this place is very special. The architecture is stunning, the views are typically Fiji fantastic, gardens extremely beautiful and the friendly hospitality is excellent. The breakfast buffet caters for a wide mix of guests and you may be so "full" you can enjoy a couple of margaritas for lunch, you'll be sure to have them delivered with a smile. Maintaining quality service is no mean feat, staff are very attentive by local standards. The Priority Privilege card proved its worth for our family stay. One of the things you notice is the GM, Scott Williams is very personable in this forum and on-site dealing with big and small comments from guests with the same level of attention. We love this resort and are returning with 8 more new guests at the end of the year. They have their Priority Privilege cards ready, are aware that clocks are a myth (who needs them in paradise) and are ready to turn the world off for a few days. Thanks Scott and the team, we can't wait!!

We recently arrived home from our stay in a one bedroom club plunge pool suite. This resort is phenomenal, and staying in the club was so worth it.

We arrived at 8pm and were greeted at the main entrance and then whisked up to Club Intercontinental for check in. Our jaws dropped when we saw the room - phenomenal. We ordered room service as it was late, and it arrived very quickly and was delicious.

The next morning we went to the Club for breakfast, and finally we were able to admire the spectacular view. Service at breakfast is great, and the coffee was surprisingly good too.

We then were taken for a tour of the resort by buggy by Tom, who was fabulous and very knowledgable. The resort was very quiet while we were there - just the way we like it. We did some snorkelling organised through Reef Safari - beautiful experience and well worth the money.

Our second night we ate at Toba. Friendly service, good food and decent portions. Also reasonably priced. The view is lovely around sunset.

Our third day we met one of the locals called King Solomon who offered us a horse ride to the cave on Navo Island and then to the local village. Being a horse rider I was keen for a ride, so we accepted the offer. The horses were gentle and plodded along, King Solomon and his friend (can't remember his name) were very knowledgable and kind, taking many photos for us. The cave was fascinating, and it was great to have a look around the village with a local. I really enjoyed this part of the trip, and would do it again if (or more likely when) we go back.

Our second day was also Valentine's Day, and we had organised to have the Cabana Dining experience through Navo restaurant. Oh. My. God. This dinner was perfection. The food was exceptional, the Cabana itself and the view were sensational, and the staff were absolutely outstanding. We were served by Kara and then Gav later in the evening. These two are an asset to the resort - their service was the best I have seen anywhere in the world.

We dined at Navo on our final night at the resort, and were absolutely thrilled to see Kara again. Once again the food was sensational and the service wonderful. Unfortunately I can't remember the name of the waiter who served us that night, but he was also lovely too. Our night was topped off with a special farewell song sung by the staff at the restaurant - what a treat.

Club Intercontinental is most definitely worth the extra money. I was concerned after reading reviews saying that the Club suites are isolated from the rest of the resort, however was pleasantly surprised to find that it was really only a few minutes walk. There are also buggies if needed.

The high teas in the club are to die for, and we planned our days around afternoon tea! The club pool is also stunning, and we were lucky we had this mostly to ourselves due to the resort being empty. The plunge pool in the room was also great to have. We would loved to have been able to see more of the ocean from our suite, but now I'm just being really picky! The view itself was still nice, and there were so many other places in the resort you could see the ocean from, so it really didn't matter.

We will definitely be back. This place is heaven on earth and I cannot wait to visit again.

We stayed at the club plunge room (after ambassador upgrade) for 6 nights in November - all I can say is amazing!

The room is so beautiful, comfortable bed, great bathroom amenities, great outdoor area and pool is amazing! The staff are nice and always there to assist. I think some reviews complained about the pool not being heated - trust me you won't even notice (I found it refreshing).

Club benefits are truly worth paying that little bit extra - we were so full from all the inclusions we only had to pay for dinner (which was half price with priority privilege card). The club lounge and pool is quiet and peaceful compared to the main pool which is busy all the time.

Waiting for a buggy doesn't take long at all from club to main area but from main area up to club you'll wait 5-10 minutes (we tried walking once and there were frogs everywhere).

The traditional dancing and singing late afternoon was incredibly entertaining . I didn't enjoy any meal at Sanasana but Tabo was great!

Spa was sensational. Great service and amenities, definitely turn up 30 minutes before to enjoy everything!

We has great weather in November and would definitely return.
