“Awesome place to start”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 13, 2012

My friend and I went to Fiji with no real plan. We started off with 2 nights at the smugglers cove to figure out what we were going to do. There was a travel agent right in the resort which was perfect! We booked an island hopping tour to the Yasawas right from there. The downside to Nadi is it RAINS ALL THE TIME. We only went into the AMAZING BEACH RIGHT OFF THE BACK OF THIS RESORT once, because it rained so much :( But there is an inernet cafe and a super delicious restaurant in this hotel and a giftshop as well.. we unfortunately could not get a private room, but this hotel was so incredibly spotless! Staying in a dorm was clean and save (not as we had expected). On the way back from the Yasawas we booked one last night at Smugglers cove and we out on the town to an AMAZING foam party. These parties are pretty safe (you go with a group from the hotel to the bar) The resort was very safe and very clean with some really friendly staff. I would not suggets staying here for your entire Fiji visit but it is by far the best place to stay on the first leg of your adventure.

Many thanks Jessica for your positive feedback following your stay at Smugglers Cove beach Resort. We have enjoyed reading your review and have passed on your comments to our hard working staffs that continually strives to keep our dorms & public floors clean & spotless at all times. It is not an easy task as you pointed out especially during storms, rains & high traffic in the evenings but after much trial & run & staffing reschedules especially at the odd hours, we have finally seen some positive results & comments on this. We are glad you got to make new friends whilst staying here and we encourage and hope that you will continue to keep in touch with them via our social networks - Trip Advisor being one of them. Thank you again and we hope to accommodate you sometime again. Vinaka Vakalevu.

the resort is nice and for the stay before going to the Yasawas it was OK. The best thing was the travel agent Ase who managed our trip to the Yasawas. She knows a lot of people there and thanks to her we saved 200 FJD on our trip.

Thank you Julien for taking the time to put your review following your stay at Smugglers Cove Beach resort. We are very proud of our travel consultants, Ase being one of them has been employed by Smugglers Cove since the opening and a loyal reputed knowledgeable travel consultant who is much demanded in our industry. She is very transparent in her recommendations and always seems to find a cheaper price in this competitive field and not lax in her bookings or follow-ups. We are glad you we able to take advantage of this service. Vinaka Vakalevu.

We stayed one night, met people who had stayed a week and were enjoying themselves. Comfy bed and nice enough room. Good value. The hotel is located 15 mins from the airport which makes it easy for flights. The Yasawa Flyer / South Sea Cruises bus picks from outside the hotel if you have pre booked your tickets for the boat.

Many thanks stevetara for your positive & kind review following your stay at Smugglers Cove beach Resort. We are generally known & have tried our best to live up to the reputation as the hub for island hopping or meeting new people in Nadi. We have one of the biggest travel centre & most boat providers offer courtesy pick-up & drop-off just outside our doors & within this vicinity. We are also centrally located between the international airport & nadi town so public bus comes our area from town and we also provide FREE airport pick-up for confirmed bookings so really there is no problem in getting into Smugglers Cove. We are glad you enjoyed our product and comfy beds and look forward to another opportunity to accommodate you in the future. Thanks you again for your kind review. Vinaka Vakalevu.

I have read a lot of bad reviews about this place; I’m a five star traveler as a rule.
But I found this place nothing but fun & friendly.

The private rooms were great with an amazing view every morning.

I was going there with friends when the storms hit Fiji.

We all had our flight cancelled the morning we were due to fly I, as it was not safe to fly into Fiji.

We were travelling from Three different parts of the world will all had to re-book and travel at different times.

I had a few problems making contact with the resort, but mainly due to the natural disaster.

But once i made contact we were re-booked without penalty or fuss

A class act, I will return.

Many thanks AlansWorldTravels for your positive & kind review of Smugglers Cove following your stay. We hope you will start to make this a home or transit base for you after your experience so we can continue to impress upon you. We are always looking for ways to improve on our product and whilst we cannot compete with a lot of our bigger 5-Star counterparts in accommodation, we hope to offer you alternatives in things to do around Nadi area in the exclusive & fun area! We have a very experienced exceptional travel consultant who has impressed a lot of travelers in recommendations & the price factor in comparison with other travel agencies so you can basically book & do anything and everything from our Travel Service. As you pointed out your usual stays are in the 5-Star resorts and we sure have enjoyed reading your comments & look forward to challenging you further in your future travels in Fiji and hopefully here at Smugglers Cove or even a visit to participate in our activities. We look forward to meeting you again or even just drop us an e-mail to secure your return discount for future stays. Vinaka Vakalevu.

We stayed here because we booked a cheap holiday package with flights and accommodation. We stayed in a premium room which was supposed to be the cheapest, it was quite spacious and very clean. We had a view of the ocean from our large window that was at he side of the room. The room had all the facilities you would expect including tea and coffee making and a fridge. Overall a pleasant stay.

Our sincere gratitude Leah for your positive feedback following your stay at Smugglers Cove beach resort. We had put in a lot of work on our rooms though have not increased the rates and it is heartening to read your review of the rooms - our maintenance & housekeeping team will greatly appreciate your comment. Due to the many buildings erected along this area thus blocking our direct views, the big windows does give a bit of comfort seeing the tropical views if not the direct view of the beach. Thank you again for ratings. Vinaka Vakalevu!

positive:
very clean, tidy, interior of good quality (no plasic cupboards or stuff like that).
It is certainly not a crappy place!
Even though not on the islands, the beach is beautiful and the hotel is right next to it! The sand might not be white but it is beautiful enough.
There are louges on the beach for guests which is very convenient!
Staff mostly helpful and very friendly
Its cheap! Even the pub with the view on the ocean (which is totally overpriced compared to pubs in Nadi town) has ok prices compared to overseas.

negative:
staff mostly useless when there is a real problem and has problems to deal with more than one costumer- dont try to get sth from the front desk if there other people waiting as well.
If the bar is busy in the evening you can wait for your glass of water for 30min or not get it at all-but thats a Fiji thing I guess.
no balcony-I expect that from a hotel room-even a cheap one. Later i found out that you have to book and pay extra for a balcony (like $70/night, so quite a lot!)
The WiFi broke down and did not get fixed whilst we were there.

General:
Taxi to the supermarket and the great Indian/Thai restaurant in Matindar FJ$4-5
Taxi to Nadi town 10 and 8 back
Taxi to port denarau 25 and 20 back
The port is very boring and the shops and restaurents too expensive when compared to Nadi town.

Room Tip: apparently when travelling in winter, it is not busy and when booking a 4 bed dorm room one geneder...

Many thanks Izzy for your constructive review. This gives a general outlook on our product and your expectations in comparison with other high expectations for a budget accommodation. We constantly strive to achieve better quality though for still cheaper rates and provide more opportunities around the resort to occupy ALL types of markets. Thank you for your comments on our services and we have noted that and dealing with it. We have appointed a F & B Supervisor solely to overlook this turnover response time due to your review among others. Most of our new staffs are provided with daily training to be able to attend to multi-tasks as our aim is to provide quality high rating services to compliment our accommodation. Internet was not usually a problem however, when this break does occur, usually it's a regional problem with the connections as Global Gossip is very consistent with the internet services. Thank you again and we hope to be able to accommodate you again in the near future. Vinaka Vakalevu.

We spent 2 days at Smugglers in a Ocean View Balcony Room. We loved the whole experience here. The staff were excellent and the room was very clean and just what we needed. Thank you to Aysa and Ema (our guide to the Sleeping Giant) for making our stay so enjoyable. The kava night was such fun. I wish we had stayed here longer. We would love to go back in the near future. From the moment they picked us up from the airport until we departed the customer service was above average. Well done.

Room Tip: we stayed in an Ocean View Balcony room. Excellent value.

Many thanks for your lovey comments & kind review following your stay at Smugglers Cove Beach Resort. We are delighted to see that you our valued guests enjoyed our product & amenities immensely and especially the atmosphere created by our very hard working staffs. Your comments in turn continue to encourage & inspire the staffs to give out more of the Fijian hospitality than what is expected of them in good spirit & intention to ensure your comfort & pleasure always. We do hope to have the opportunity again to accommodate you in the future. Our sincere gratitude. Vinaka Vakalevu.
