Owner description: One of the most picturesque villages in Fiji, this one retains the traditional bures (thatched huts supported by center poles) that have been replaced in other villages by prefabricated concrete homes.

“An experience to remember”
Reviewed February 22, 2013

Basically had a private tour as there were 7 of us travelling together. We learnt more about the culture and about Fiji itself. Went via Nadi where we learnt about the background to the local sugar cane & rum industries. We visited the markets in Ba, including the fish markets, then travelled onto the village. The drive in was great opportunity to see the variety of landscapes as we went up into the highlands. Our guide was very knowledgeable and gave us a good insight into the culture. We took part in a traditonal kava ceremony which was much better than the abridged versions we had experienced in earlier tours.

We visited the local school where we provide some stationery supplies to the Head teacher who seemed to really appreciate the gifts and we were able to interact with students in one of the junior classes.

One family from the village provided lunch consisting of some of their traditional dishes.

All in all a very enjoyable experience

The landscape and the view of unique culture, but latest info i got is not to get off your car and wonder inside the village, might cost you a fortune.

“Must do”
Reviewed November 15, 2012

Me and my dad went last month and we had a great experience, we learnt a lot about the culture. Our tour guide, Kali, was amazing. He responded all our questions about the island. The people in Navala were very nice and friendly. The food, ok.

“Poor little place”
Reviewed September 21, 2012

Sorry but it seemed all the mainland villages were of the same design-and distinctly poor, and the education instit\utes seemed to get all the advertising.People are friendly though, very smiley despite their privations.

“Very Informational”
Reviewed August 29, 2012

This village is the first village that landed on Fiji and the culture is still strong today. The tour guide will answer just about any question you have and they are very good at explaining the cultural life in a Fijian village. Some very interesting facts about how they protected themselves and how the villages to this day function. A must do stop if you are interested in the culture of the Islands you visit.
