A wonderful variety of orchids on display. The gardens are well tended but are still recovering from the last cyclone that hit in 2011

“Very good but large areas closed”
Reviewed July 21, 2013

Nice gardens and lots of orchids. Unfortunately large sections were closed when we were there. Nice refreshing tropical fruit punch at the end was free, friendly staff will sit with you and answer any questions you might have. Good value at $16pp

“Lovely, shady gardens”
Reviewed July 16, 2013

We took a taxi here, which cost 70 FJD return with waiting time, because it sounded like the bus to and from Sabeto was too intermittent for easy planning. Kind of expensive taxi ride. Entry is 16 FJD. The gardens are lovely and cool because of all the shade. Many orchids at the beginning of the walk, less interesting plants through the middle and end area. There's a nice lookout if you follow the path that leads off over a little plank bridge towards the beginning of the walk. It's a nice place to visit, but definitely not a must-see.

“stunning flowers”
Reviewed July 15, 2013

We did a tour with Rosie tours that included the garden of the sleeping giant, was a very nice trip with a tour guide that knew a bit about the flowers and we got a complimentary fruit juice at the end of the garden tour. This walk is acceptable for children but not wheel chairs or anyone that has trouble walking up and down stairs. In saying that the first part of the walk where most the orchards are is flat. I thought this tour was pretty cheap as it included 3 other stops.

“Worthwhile”
Reviewed July 9, 2013

We visited this beautiful orchid garden as part of a cultural tour which came with our package from My Fiji.
The day we visited the humidity was very high and we did suffer from it.
The scenery was interesting as we made our way to the garden and the surrounding mountains were spectacular. The garden itself was very beautiful, in such a lovely setting. The orchid collection was vast and also very beautiful.
We liked the fact that we could walk as far or as little as we wanted and after the guide told us about all the orchids and as it was such a hot and humid day we opted to do the latter.
Just one note re the guide, I think I would have liked to have learnt more about the history of the garden. Knowing from reading that it was built by Raymond Burr (the actor who played Perry Mason and Ironside) I think it would have been good to know more about his part in the development of the garden.
I would recommend seeing this beautiful garden.
