Myself and two others stayed at the Tanoa for 3 nights for a quick trip away. We found the room adequate for our needs and the airconditioning quite good. We spent most of our time around the pool which was absolutely lovely - in a beautiful setting near the restaurant and bar.

The staff are all very friendly, we particularly had fun with the bar staff who were so happy and friendly - particularly Josiah the bar manager who always said a loud hi or "bula" whenever we happened to walk past!! Participating in the kava ceremony with the musicians is fun, do it if you are invited to.

We ate most nights at the restaurant, the buffet's are great although there were some comments from my travelling partners about the surprising lack of seafood, I personally preferred the buffet food to what was on offer on the menu and all the food and drink seemed a pretty reasonable price (we went to the Sonaisali for a wedding there and it was quite a bit more expensive).

The biggest gripe we had about the place was that they definitely took their time doing up our rooms - we needed to have a shower in the early afternoon before going to the wedding and found that they hadn't replaced our towels in the rooms, we had to ask a couple of times for them to be replaced and they took their time about it. Something funny also happened when we checked out with regards to the payment from the travel agent - but no biggie, it was all sorted out pretty quickly.

The setting of the place was beautiful and peaceful!! It did get busy some nights - being an airport motel - with travellers who had their flights delayed but that added to the atmosphere.

We were a bit worried after reading some of the more negative reviews, but we are glad we made the choice to stay here anyway as this was a good place to stay for my first trip to Fiji. We were defnitely not disappointed.

Main things to take away - very friendly staff that make you feel welcome, good for a quick getaway, convenient and handy to the airport, nice lush surroundings!

We stayed one night at the Tanoa International Hotel. We purchased a Suite to spoil ourselves on our last night in Fiji. This was not a mistake! The room was wonderful and affordable compared to the other four resorts that we had stayed at on three islands over three weeks. We had always stayed in a bure at the last four resorts and this is more hotel style. We ate dinner at the hotel restaurant and it was delicious and well priced, however the breakfast was expensive for what you received. This hotel is about a 5-minute drive from the airport and makes for an excellent stay to start or end your trip.

I stayed at the Tanoa International in both June and July 2006. On my first stay I got one of the older rooms. Although the room was decent, the bathroom was dissappointing and (athough it was clean) it seemed dirty.

On my second stay I got one of the newer rooms. Wow - what a difference. The room was the same rate but it was a beautiful, modern, hotel room with dark wood furnishing. What you would expect of an upscale hotel in North America.

The staff is helpful and friendly, the grounds are nice. There's a nice pool, tennis courts, and gym.

Definitely recommended.

We stayed at the Tanoa near Nadi Airport for three nights, once on arrival in Fiji and two nights before departure. The rooms were clean, quite spacious and air-conditioned. The beds were comfortable and the room serviced daily. Supplies of tea, coffee etc. were plentiful and toiletries provided. There is a guest laundry which we used with tokens which we purchased from reception.

The Hotel is set in tropical gardens in a quiet area about a ten minute drive from the airport. The pool area is pleasant and is beside the bar and dining areas.

We enjoyed dinner there twice, the food being reasonable. The Breakfast Buffet was excellent with a wide selection of tropical fruit, cereal, yoghurt and hot dishes. Eggs are cooked to your liking and the omeletes delicious.

If you are looking for a good, clean, comfortable hotel close to the airport and handy to Nadi, the Tanoa International is ideal.

We stayed at this hotel for our final night in Fiji because of it's proximity to the airport. The room we were given was huge as it had a bedroom and a connecting living room. The room's decor was nothing special though. The newly renovated bathroom was great.

The grounds were lush.

The meal we had at the hotel restaurant was much better than the bad food we had at our island resort (mana).

We didn't use the swimming pool but it looked fine, but nothing like the huge amazing pool they have at Raffles Gateway hotel, which is directly opposite the airport (where we stayed at our first night in Fiji). Our room at Tanoa was a better standard than Raffles but the location and pool at Raffles are better if you want an airport hotel.

Stayed at the Tanoa for 1 after our Capt Cook Cruise. Staff in the lobby were all lovely. They even remembered our names the next day when we had breakfast.

The rooms are in dire need of refurbishment. They look like they have not been touched or imporved upon since the hotel opened! peeling paint and i wouldn't trust walking around barefoot in the bathroom...the tiles were clean but they had this old grotty look about them - no amount of bleach or cleaning products can hide the fact that the bathroom was old...

The employees were on strike the week we arrived there. We were told by our agent that we were going to be picked up at the airport. After being advised by one of the taxi drivers that the tanoa (along with other hotels in the area) was on strike, we decided to catch a cab. we were reimbursed for the cab fare at chcek-in which i thought was only fair. But i think it was quite rude not to be informed. they should have signs or something at the airport. after all, the staff had already been on strike for a couple of days when we arrived!

on a positive note, had a facial in their spa and it was D-I-V-I-N-E! :) cheap too!

overall, a good transit hotel if you're not fussy...if you're after a good, relaxing holiday, stay elsewhere.

This is an airport hotel and I wouldn't recommend anyone staying more than 1 night.

Our room was tired and urgently required a lick of paint. This may have been just our room but the corridors had the same look and feel about them.

The air conditioning wasn't effective and as a result the room was hot and smelt clammy.

We found a dead cockroach in our bedsheets so had a thorough scan for anymore but found none. My wife woke up in the night to see a cockroach big enough to run off with our suitcase, (her screaming woke me up). That night we had 3 more of his mates visit us,
and no sleep.

The rest of the hotel seemed nice and clean with a small swimming pool.

As we checked in late and left early we didn't eat at the hotel and can't comment.

If you have booked to stay here check your room and put towels under the doors to stop the little buggers getting in.
