“Great local market”
Reviewed November 8, 2013

The market is huge and a great place to visit. Lots of fresh local produce and heaps of souvenirs. There was also a band and a dancing show to watch which was great. It was hot when we went and the fresh juice was a welcome relief. The market is a great introduction to the Cook Islands.

“Great Market”
Reviewed November 3, 2013

Colourful and vibrant. Lots of good souvenir options at good prices. The fresh fruit & vegetables are great value, the Mamas behind the stalls ready to help and let you taste the unfamiliar and tell you how to cook/prepare them. One stall sells smoked fish and pate; try before you buy. The chicken liver pate is just magic. Great Ike Mata as well. The smoothies are great value many stalls sell them.

“Meet the locals”
Reviewed October 26, 2013

The markets are run every Saturday and you can go for a couple of hours or spend the whole day there. You can buy sarongs, ukuleles, flowers and locally made arts and crafts for gifts and souvenirs. There are numerous food stalls selling local dishes and plenty of cold drinks available if you forget to take your own. When you've finished buying you can sit and listen to the music and watch the dancers. You mustn't miss the markets.

Unfortunately our visit to the Saturday market was the day before our departure. To all visitors try and go at the start of your visit. A wonderful place to buy all sorts of food and local fruit , vegetables etc. and to see / talk to the Cook Islanders. Highlight of the market was watching the dancers about midday especially the very little ones, absolutely inspiring to see their enthusiasm and confidence. Thank you Rarotonga for a superb holiday.
