Owner description: Saturday is the best time to visit this outdoor market where you can purchase fruits, vegetables, bedding and clothing.

We loved visiting the market every Saturday during our three month stay. Everyone in the family had a favourite stall to visit. Dad loved the Cajun chicken and nachos that Ainsley and family cooked up, the girls loved the donuts and waffles, and I loved my weekly raro-roll!

We also had a 'banana' lady who always had helpful tips for learning the language; the juice stall who made the best pawpaw juice; and the many other food stalls that always had yummy produce and a friendly smile.

A fantastic place to spend a few hours on a Saturday.

Get to the market as early as you can for the best pick of local fruit and veges. Our kids loved the donuts sold by a very nice boy who worked hard all morning. The pawpaw juice is great on its own or in cocktails, the bananas are fantastic and the lovely lady halfway down the vege row had the best deal at 20cents each. The waffles are amazing and the cajun chicken rolls sold by Ainsley, the chicken on chips with mushroom sauce, and the shaved ices were our family favourites. Stay around for the 10am show which is a real treat.

Well worth a visit, with lots of stalls, especially in the food range, if like me you like tomatoes then the ones from the market are the best they taste like tomatoes used to taste and not like the plastic tasting ones we now have,

They also do very good quiches

The entertainment is good lovely to see the young dancers and they have good singers too

Easy to get to, we used the buses all the time and they drop people off right at the entrance

Best to get there early if after good veges etc as they go very quickly

Lots of souvenir type stalls ,and good food eating stalls too

The Saturday market is a big event for Rarotonga locals and tourists alike. The locals sell jewelry, crafts, fruit, sarongs, shirts, etc. You can buy any souvenir here for a better price than the gift shops. The locals also perform a cultural dance and sing traditional Maori songs. A variety of food is sold there as well. Almost all of the shops in town set up a booth at the market to sell their items. If you are looking to buy fresh fruit, you want to get to the market early. Also, if you want to buy black pearls, you can buy them here for much less than the stores, but be aware that fake pearls are sold there as well.

It is a good place for everyone in the island rarotonga to meet once a week on Saturday morning. We bought a lot of local fruits and bakery and had lunch there. you can find even souvenirs and black pearls for less money in the stores.
