It is a good place for everyone in the island rarotonga to meet once a week on Saturday morning. We bought a lot of local fruits and bakery and had lunch there. you can find even souvenirs and black pearls for less money in the stores.

Always a fantastic market. This year, seems to be larger than in the past. The dancing was great, and the prices for the food and produce were very reasonable.

We loved going to the Saturday markets. The culture with the drumming and dancing and the excellent MC is a massive bonus here, and provides colour and humour. The huge amount of food on offer is impressive too. If I died and went to heaven after the Smoked Fish Mornay Crepe I would have had a smile on my face. Please do yourself a favour and have this - OMG! Then go and find Tuhia at the school fundraising booth and ask him for a fresh coconut drink, and meet the real life Ken and Barbie there too. Amble around the stalls and buy some cool local stuff - I absolutely recommend Aunt Dora's Pawpaw, Banana and Chilli Chutney - we went back for another three to take back to NZ with us. Also Pati Mai is a genius guy who carves black pearls and mother of pearl jewellery - humble and oh, so, talented! I bought a flower necklace with a pearl that is totally gorgeous. We will always come back here on our trips to the Cook Islands.

The Punanga Nui markets are a must visit. Lots of nice produce, crafts, and there is always entertainment - free! We loved the photo booth, cheap and fun, and were delighted to find our favourite star fruits! No pushy sellers, just charming Rarotongans doing their Saturday morning thing.
