Great apartment poolside. Very clean and serviced every day.Friendly staff especially Dawn in the restaurant. Great location close to town and golf course with bus stop at the gate. My partner and I enjoyed our stay and will recommend to friends and family. Dining in the restaurant was enjoyable but please put soft feet on the chair legs.

We booked our trip through Costco and this is the place where we stayed. It's a small property so the service is personable. The staff is wonderful about answering questions and is extremely helpful. The people are warm and welcoming and do everything to make you feel at home.
Our room was beachfront and we loved the location and the view. We spent a lot of time under the thatched roof cover shown in the picture for the property! Great snorkeling was just steps from our room. Any activities we wanted to book were made easy through the front desk.
Breakfast was included with our package. Although very simple, it was enough to get us going for the day. There were breads with a selection of jams, honey and peanut butter. Yogurt with an array of fresh fruit and coconut each day. Four cereal choices were also available to fill you up.
If in doubt about where to go or what to do, ask Kimi. She was a wonderful resource about the island and things to go see, do or eat!
Will be returning to this property again!!

We have just returned from another holdiay at Sunset Resort in Rarotonga, Cook Islands. It was fantastic - the resort is fabulous, quiet and clean, with a choice of the sea or one of two pools for swimming. The snorkling out in the lagoon is great and the sun bathing on the golden beach (or by either of the lovely pools) is so relaxing. We were so well looked after during our stay with all the staff being friendly and helpful. The managers were away when we first arrived but you would not have known it. We commenced our stay in one of studios by a pool and ended in one on the beach - both were very comfortable and clean.
Thank you to the team at Sunset Resort for a wonderful relaxing holiday again. We would recommend this resort to anyone wanting a peaceful break from the daily grind of earning a living!!

Room Tip: Book early to get a beach unit - they are very special!

Thank you for your review. It is good to read that you enjoyed your Rarotonga holiday with us and found the resort to be a relaxing place for your stay. We would like to thank you for your comments about our staff. We think that we are very fortunate to have the amazing team that we do but It is reassuring to read that even when management are not at the resort that our staff continue to give great service to our guests. This reconfirms for us that it is indeed "our wonderful staffs resort" and that for our team it is a personal experience that they are sharing with our guests.

We stayed in the Sunset for 6 days in early April. Husband & I received a warm welcome from Kim a member of Sunset who greeted us with flower lei & shuttled us to Sunset. Got early check in which allowed us to freshen up since was 6:15AM. We were given vouchers for breakfast meals so that nourishment wouldn't be a worry. We were touched by the little kind expressions that make this resort one of the finer places to stay. We feel we were welcomed with special kindness. We feel we celebrated and relaxed. Sunset will always be a special place for more visits to come back to with our family. Oh, by the way, Sunset was amazing & all around made our stay memorable.

Room Tip: Rooms closer to the front desk are quieter than further towards the main road.

Thank you for taking the time to write your review and also to make such positive comments about our staff and resort. A guest experience begins with the meet and greet service. We believe that Kimi is an important part of the "Sunset Resort" experience and that our guests feel that when she meets them … that their Rarotonga holiday has begun.

Safe travels

We spent 8 nights at the Sunset resort in a beachfront room. The location is stunning, the facilities were fantastic, the staff wonderful and our experience was truly magical.
The resort is well presented, our room was well equipped and had everything we needed. We booked a couple of activites through the front desk and the team were very helpful and sweet.
Nice little touches like the free movies, fresh flowers in our room daily, the free use of snorkels/beach feet, tips on where to go and what to see were all very welcome and just added to our stay. We will be back.

Room Tip: If your budget allows, do the beachfront; it really is worth it

We have just returned from a week at Sunset Resort. Fantastic location, great staff (all played well).Nothing seemed too much of a problem. We stayed in a beachside studio and the views are fantastic. The rooms are large, uncluttered, and most of all clean, and the beds although soft are very comfy.Excellent cleaning staff attended every day,and even on good Friday gave our room the once over.No kid policy is great, with no noise and no screaming kids running around the pool, when you just want to relax or have a dip. Both pools were clean, although we did only swim in the smaller of the two,as it was closest to our room. Although the roosters and chooks are present, we certainly didn't have any issues with them waking us early. We have been checking the reviews in this resort for some time (since October), and found some were a little on the negative side regarding the restaurant.Well let me assure you the food at the Anchorage was way above anywhere else we tried during our stay.Whether it was cooked breakfast(although continental suppled with our booking for free is really good too), a quick bite for lunch or dinner, t he food was absolutely fantastic. The new chef has certainly made a huge difference, and Tony runs a tight ship, ensuring everyone is attended to in a timely manner. The beach was beautiful with countless reef species, and feeding them with bread made it even more special. We would definitely have no hesitation in staying here again.

Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Thank you very much for taking the time to write your review . We believe that the changes to our Anchorage restaurant will continue to add to our guests overall experience. Tony does indeed run a tight ship and produces amazing food. We are really pleased to have him join our team, It is great to get this positive feed back and we will be sure to pass this information onto him.

Just back from a week in the beautiful Cook Islands and the most excellent Sunset Resort. We have been reflecting on how 'lucky' we got having selected a place to stay from just a few photos in a brochure and a little advice from a travel agent. We were looking for a quiet, quality beach front resort where we would be well looked after and had options to vary our day with activities or simply doing nothing by the pool or beach. Sunset exceeded our expectations on every level. From Kimi's friendly welcome to the daily services of the office and gardening/pool staff and regular upkeep of the quality room and facilities. Such is the layout of the rooms, pools, bar, restaurant and beach access that at times we thought we were the only people in the resort, yet it was almost fully booked.
The Anchorage Restaurant is first class and the new chef (who arrived from Whangarei just a month ago) will rewrite some of the historically average reviews of the food at Sunset. The meals were faultless and would stand alongside the very best available at home in Auckland's fine dining establishments. We also came prepared to deal with my wife being gluten free so we stocked our little kitchenette with GF foods from home. As a small improvement the resort could perhaps offer some GF cereal and bread with the morning continental breakfast but this is just a suggestion, not a complaint. Both the Anchorage restaurant and others around the Island were only too willing to 'un-crumb' the fish dishes or offer a GF free sauce or dressing when requested so don't be shy to ask. Dining prices seemed very reasonable and compare favourably, if not cheaper that cafe or restaurant dining in NZ. Advice and suggestions/connections to island activities (scooter hire, dive trips, buses, airport transfers etc) were professionally handled by the staff making this holiday trouble free, easy and memorable on every level. Can't wait to return.

Room Tip: Pool side units are shaded, very private and quiet. A little road noise at in the quiet of night but...
