“Noise issues at Aremango”
Reviewed November 6, 2011

We are a couple in our late 50's and stayed there 3 nights. The owners left us a note saying that we making too much noise. This was surprising considering we were in bed before 10PM. If you stay there you need to tip toe around at night and be very careful to close your door very very gently, or better yet use only the bathrooms only during the day.

However, our room was right on the road with considerable noise of motorcycles and cars at all hours of day and night. Also the room had poor ventilation, and a bright road light right outside our window. A light and noisy hot room = poor sleep. There was no screen on our sliding glass door. Only 3 shared bathrooms that were all looking very run down. Ceiling fan is on a timer and will shut off after about a hour, apparently electricity is very expensive in Rarotonga. Ants in room, but this was a minor issue.

On the positive side the location in Muri is good, Kelly the manager is pleasant.

Overall-
The price is low and the location in Muri is good, so I am sure for some this would work , but for us the noise hassles and a complaint letter from management made it a poor choice for us.

Note on Cook Islands - prices are very high, food at stores are four times what we pay at home, for vegetables for than 10 times what we pay at home., Hotels price are sky high, Fiji a much better value.

My wife and i just returned to NZ after our 5th 2week holiday at Aremango in as many years. We never consider trying anywhere else on Raro as we consider we`ve found the best in value for money, best hospitality from the managers Kelly and Brendon. best in cleanliness, best in loction, best a feel of home away from home. 100% best all round and we already planning our next years holiday in paradise and yes we will going back to Aremango for our 6th time. For those of you who have the pleasure of holidaying at Aremango have a GREAT time and please say hi to Kelly and Bredon from Kiwis Greg and Mandy. Cheers, Greg Clark, Warkworth NZ

Lovely place to stay, only 10 rooms in total so not over crowded and noisey like the big backpackers, lovely and clean and friendly people that run it, only couple minutes walk to beach, great outside area to use and good size lounge inside, will definately be back, cheers:)

This place is Good value for money. We enjoyed our stay here - although we only used the facilities for sleeping really...didn't hang out on the deck or cook in the kitchen.
The private outdoor shower was good to use instead of the shared facilities.

Pros:
* Very organised & lovely couple who run it.
* Room's very clean.
*Muri beach is possibly the best beach in Raro!
*Free bikes and snokels etc (the bikes ended up being our primary transport!).

Cons:
*A few people have mentioned the road noise (which is surprising loud for a little island). It's quite strange how the rooms are layout on the property...you'd think that the best rooms would be closer to the beach away from the road...but its the opposite way round.
* Bathrooms are looking a bit tired...probably as clean as you can get them though. Could do with some hooks on the walls of somewhere to put your stuff while you shower etc.

Basically its great if your on a budget and like us just wanted a room to crash that was clean and tidy.

Room Tip: get a room with the private showers
