I had the Crayfish Sechuan and it was fab. Bamboo Jack's was perfect except for the bizzare mix of kooky music. Watch out for the crazy waiter

I was really disappointed! After hearing such great things about this restaurant, I was very disappointed with the quality of food. I love Thai and was eagerly awaiting the distinct explosion of flavours that one can expect from authentic thai cuisine, but instead had to contend with really bland food. Will not be going back again. But I do have to say the service and the staff were very lovely.

Great atmosphere, very friendly staff and a great aisian selection with an Island theme. Well worth a visit as something different to the usual Island fare

Bamboo Jacks is a wicked Asian restaurant just outside the busy “downtown” area of Avarua on Rarotonga. Tables are available inside or outside in an enclosed courtyard. The atmosphere here is friendly and inviting, and the owner will make you feel very welcome whether you stop by for their lunch or dinner service.

The extensive menu features Chinese, Thai, and other Asian dishes made with fresh island ingredients and imported favorites. You can start your meal off with a green tea or a selection of drinks including many beers and cocktails. I had the chicken udon stir fry, which came out sizzling and steaming on a hot plate. This stir fry was phenomenal, cooked and spiced perfectly, in a big portion that left me full and happy. Dishes are marked to show how spicy they are, which is perfect for families or the less adventurous.

Unlike a lot of food you’ll find on the island, this isn’t just “good enough”, but great, and something I would be more than happy to eat anywhere in the world. I’ll be back!

We were recommended to try Bamboo Jacks on our recent Rarotongan holiday. It was fabulous, the crayfish was to die for. Loved the Cook Island beer on tap. An extremely pleasant lunch. Our compliments to all the staff. Ronnie was very helpful and knowledgeable about food and other places to visit on the Island. It is a definite revisit the next time we go to the Island. Everyone must try it!
