“Playa Pocitos”
Reviewed December 25, 2012

Nice beach and close to the city, wherever you are staying. It is easy to go there by bus too. You should have some beers there.

“Nice part of town”
Reviewed December 22, 2012

It is typically Uruguayan, peaceful, laid back and almost in a time warp. The flea market was good, but what was on sale was to say the least average

“Pocitos, a beautiful place”
Reviewed December 16, 2012

This is a great area to shop, exercise and sunbathe. The beaches are nice and clean, and the water is calm. A perfect beach day and a great night out can happen in Pocitos.

“Good neighbourhood”
Reviewed December 7, 2012

We rented an apartment in Pocitos and were delighted by our stay. In front of us was the beach which whilst not being the cleanest in the world was certainly convenient and very safe. The beach is bordered by the river rather than by the sea which makes it a dirty brown colour, but there was never any of the high waves associated with the Atlantic to contend with and it provided a great place for a quick dip to cool off. We were surprised at the complete lack of any beach sellers or cabanas. It was great not to be bothered by someone trying to sell us something, but the lack of shade did mean we had to invest in two umbrellas to avoid getting burnt. Pocitos is primarily a residential area so does not have that touristy feel. It is well served by two shopping malls, local markets stalls at the weekend, a variety of restaurants to suit all budgets and the number 121 bus, which will efficiently and cheaply take you into the city to Plaza Independencia and all the associated tourist spots around there. A very busy stretch of the Rambla is also part of Pocitos. You can join in or just watch as thousands of people pass by or use it to walk to the fresh fish stalls via the Naval Musem and British cemetery. Pocitos is a place to relax or sight see but also with easy access to the city

“A good neighbourhood to stay in”
Reviewed November 28, 2012

It seemed like a good neighbourhood with different restaurants to visit and it's where a few hostels are located. Down by the beach there's lots of action with beach volleyball/tennis and other things going on. Lots of locals go for a run along there as well. The beach itself isn't particularly great. It line with the ocean (or river) was strewn with all sorts of rubbish and a dead rat or two. I did find a great veggie burger place just round the corner from my hostel though.
