“I have to say it is pretty good”
Reviewed June 30, 2013

I like this hotel because of various things.
First of all the location is very good. Very close to the beautiful coast line of Montevideo. And there is a good mall just next to it (you can directly walk from the hotel).
The service and client attention is good.
The gym is fairly OK. There is even a pool at the top floor.
The rooms are comfortable and very clean.
The food is not the best. Try to avoid the buffet. There are a few good restaurants around. The food in the hotel is not good at all (I was surprised), also the breakfast is far away from Sheraton standards.

Room Tip: No certain tips. I was at one of the middle floors and it was good.

We would like to thank you for the time and effort you have taken to write this review.
Certainly, we pride ourselves on having a superb location just a few metres away from la "rambla" and Punta Carretas Shopping centre.
On the other hand, we are very sorry to hear that our restaurant didn’t live up to you expectations.
We hope to see you here in another time!

Stayed here for 1 night on a business trip. Hotel lobby and common areas are nice, typical of a Sheraton. Check in/check out was a breeze, with very friendly and efficient personnel.
Room was very spacious with comfortable bed. Bathroom was also spacious, with the most wonderful water-pressure in the shower. Turn down service was provided.
The breakfast buffet looked fine. They had a variety of breads, fruits, cold cuts, and cereals. I only had time to grab a quick coffee and croissant, so cannot comment on quality of the various items.
Internet connection worked fine at first, later would not work. Had to connect to a different floor to make it work.
I briefly went by the spa on the 26th floor just to change clothes after check-out. It looked a bit small, but nice.
Location is very convenient. It is connected to the Punta Carretas shopping mall which includes shops, various restaurants/cafes, and a supermarket. It is also within walking distance to various street shops and restaurants. I highly recommend dining at Francis restaurant – about a 10 min walk from hotel.
I recommend this hotel – very convenient.

Was in Montevideo on business and as my experience with Sheraton is, there were no surprises. And for me, on business, that's what I want. Very comfortable room and contrary to another writers note, water in my room was complementary. Location is a little less than desired for touristic activities but you are near the water and some good restaurants are just a 5- 15 minute walk away.

Perfectly acceptable hotel providing all the facilities you would expect from a Sheraton. Check-in was smooth and room was large with a good sized desk. Good sized bathroom with usual amenities but only one bath robe for two of us. Small mini-bar but no complimentary water. The executive lounge was small with wine in the evening but no beer unless you ordered it on room service and paid for it. Breakfast was quite basic in the lounge. Probably the least good of this trip. The hotel is handy for the adjacent shopping mall but not that close to the old city centre which requires a bus or taxi ride which are both easy to do. The immediate vicinity of the hotel is quite ugly being surrounded by car parks, fast food outlets and the modern shopping mall. There appears to be quite a good choice of new hotels near the old city centre if that is where you want to be. Montevideo was surprisingly expensive and I didn't feel this hotel represented the greatest value for money. We stayed in better yet cheaper hotels in other nearby countries. Having said that the hotel was fine.

Room Tip: The higher the room the better the view! the city view is actually good as you can see the old town...

Recently renovated, great location and very attentive service. I've been staying at the Sheraton Montevideo in many ocassions for many years. I found this last time one of the best. (Secret tip: for the best coffee/breakfast option, go to the mall connected to the hotel, look for the Disco supermarket inside the mall, go to the bakery section and get some bizcochos/pastries from their selection, then go to the little stand of Cafe Bahia where they'll prepare the best cortado/capuccino or whatever coffee option you want, and have it right there with your pastries... Pay for the coffee at the stand and for the pastries at the market's checkout... Amazing for about 2-3 dollars!!!)

Recently had the pleasure of a two day/nights stay in this great hotel, and my only regret was that we couldn't stay longer. It certainly looked and sounded nice online, and my impression was that it was the second best hotel in the city (after the new Sofitel). I can honestly say that it not only lived up to every expectation, but exceeded them. The location is great--right in the heart of the Punta Carretas district, and directly above the shopping mall. Punta Carretas is Montevideo's "upscale" neighborhood bordering the ocean just to the southeast of the city center and old town. There are a fair number of trendy shops and amazing restaurants all within walking distance of the Sheraton. The hotel itself is very pleasant looking (exterior and interior spaces), though a little dated. But the rooms are VERY spacious and well appointed. Everything was clean, comfortable and in perfect working order. I would highly recommend the extra bucks for an Executive level room. Not only is the room itself exceptionally nice, but you also get unlimited access to the lounge on the 23rd(?) floor, which includes breakfast. And the views from there of the ocean and waterfront Ramblas at the tables in front of the bay windows are the best way ever to enjoy your breakfast and ease into the mornings. The food selection there was extensive and delicious. We never left short of stuffed! And the lounge is also a perfect place to end the day with cocktails before dinner. The hotel staff was also top notch, without exception. The front desk people, doormen and Concierges were extremely friendly and helpful, and almost everyone spoke fluent, if not good, English (or close enough <smile>). They gave us great recommendations for local restaurants and city sightseeing. And thanks to a favorable exchange rate between USD$ and Uruguay Pesos, enjoying this hotel and the city won't break the bank, but it's worth every penny to stay here. It was a perfect first time in this interesting, relaxing and colorful city, and we very much look forward to returning to Montevideo and the Sheraton again.

Room Tip: Upgrade to the Executive level of room.

I liked this hotel, the location, and the service. The beds and pillows are comfortable, there are several really good restaurants nearby, and it is attached to a nice mall. The breakfast is not as elaborate as other international hotels, but it is adequate. I would stay here again.
