An Ibis is like a McDonald´s - you usually know what you´re going to get. I was pleasantly surprised with a longer stay at this hotel though. Rooms are comfy with good air-conditioning (a must during the Uruguayan winter!), amazing sound insulation and warm water quickly flowing from the showers. Breakfast is a bit overpriced but very reasonable, and it is cheaper than other options facing the river. I was alone and working so havinga small room was not a problem, and I even had a good desk and fast internet - free - to work. Given, some mouldy spots in ceiling near a/c grid and bathrooms are not amazingly spacious, but who cares about that if the room is clean and airy anyways. All in all a good option in Montevideo.
Decent breakfast, WIFI or PC in lobby and extremely small rooms. Some staff speak English and all are very helpful. This place is right next to the US Embassy and on the river front. Not the best area of town but not too terrible. They have parking if you need it or call for a taxi.
This was a great hotel at a great location - right across from the bay with an awesome view! Easy access to public buses to Tres Cruces and the beach. The room was very clean, albeit no frills, and the breakfast was a good value. Beautiful promenade along the water right across the street! Tips: You can use the city buses from Tres Cruces to the hotel - no need for a cab. Also, hook up with clerk Ernesto for local information - speaks very good English and is knowledgeable. Also, the empanada take-out place a few blocks away was great for a reasonably priced meal.
