Stayed here for a couple of nights in November 2013. Was greeted by a friendly concierge near the front gate and he directed us to reception and showed us where to park our rental car.
Note: You can only turn into this property when travelling towards the city.
Reception staff could speak English. Our bags were taken upstairs and before we could put our hands in our pockets for a tip, the fellow had disappeared.
We stayed in a studio apartment on the 1st floor. $118 US per night, which included breakfast.
The flooring in the unit was laminate and tiles throughout. No carpet. There was a kitchenette that included a sink, microwave and small fridge, cutlery and crockery, etc.
There was air con, flat screen tv, table and chairs. Also free WIFI, that worked.
There was a small shared outdoor balcony on this side of the building unit and we had a glimpse of the river.
The bathroom had modern fittings with toilet, shower and bidet.
Everything in the apartment seemed clean and fresh and there always seemed to be someone cleaning and wiping the doors and windows around the place.
There is a lift in the building and an outdoor pool.
The continental breakfast buffet had a good selection of food and the attendant kept everything topped up.
Most everything about this place is great but I did come across a couple of things that were issues for me.....
There is a 6 inch level drop from the balcony into the room and it was easy to stumble. Also the steps between the ground floor and first floor have a peculiar cut or angle and twice I nearly fell (an addition of some visible edging would benefit users). Being a safety manager I would consider myself to normally be able to identify these hazards before I injure myself, but I somehow kept managing to have near misses, and I felt lucky that I did not have a serious injury. So future guests beware of these design flaws.
I am of an average height and could not reach the bath towels that were place on a high rack way above the toilet.
Also, due to the hard floors we experienced noise from the unit above.
It is about a 15-20 minute walk to shops and restaurants and the Tienda Inglesa supermarket.
This is the 3rd hotel I have stayed at on the Rambla and I would probably try somewhere different next time. Even though this hotel is in Carrasco (and I prefer this quieter end of the Rambla) I may try a location where it is easier to access the property.
