Description: Welcome to La Pulperia, a family business that already has more than 20 years offering a unique place to eat the traditional food of Uruguay. We are a small place but with very warm atmosphere, a spectacular food, and a friendly and attentive staff. We have a place to eat inside the premises and a few tables just outside for those who like to be outdoors. Our goal is that our customers leave satisfied in order to come back and tell their family and friends.

“Local favorite”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 25, 2013

Located off the beaten path in an older neighbor in Punta Carretas, this small corner grill is a local favorite. Come early to beat the late night dinner crowd, as it is only open in the evenings. Service was outstanding, waiter took care of our table of 8-plus a few other tables and we well never left waiting. Everything on the menu is recommended, but the ojo de bife is the best.

“Delicious and friendly”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 10, 2013

Full of character, friendly, great meat. Excellent value. Would definitely recommend it. They actually ask you how you want your meat. Which means it doesn't arrive like a grey chunk on your place like most places in Latin America.

“Interesting dining experience- a must do!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 10, 2012

This tiny, hole-in-the-wall restaurant is truly unique. The atmosphere is extremely rustic but the food may be some of he best in Montevideo. It is tiny so large groups would not fit in the restaurant.

“Great meat, real Uruguayan barbacue...”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 5, 2012

Informal restaurant to get to know the classical Uruguayan barbecue. Meat is always amazing and you can order the typical chorizos, quesos parrilleros or mollejas as starters. As a main dish try asado or vacio. Both came with a great tomato, lettuche and onion's salad which is prepared really great. It is always busy so go early or wait calm outside enjoying a beer or glass of wine. Just in case, no credit cards allowed. Still the price is really accessible.

“Pull up a stool and join in the fun”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 1, 2012 via mobile

We had a great lunch here this week! We shared an order of bife de vacio (flank steak), boniato de plomo (tropical sweet potato) and a salad. It feels you're eating with a group of friends in someone's kitchen. All of the seats are high stools at counters facing the grill, the street or for a slightly larger group you can sit at a counter where you face each other. It was great fun and the food was very good.
