Personnel is wonderful. All of them. Very polite. The cleaning ladies are also wonderful.
The dinning room attendants are very nice. The hotel is very clean. Outside at times is a little noisy, but nothing is prefect. I spent a whole month there from december 15 to january 12th, and I felt like I was staying at home. I walked to the seaside everyday. Only two blocks away. Gent market is a few blocks away, and you find everything you need there. I will not hesitate to go back at any time. Is away from the hussle of downtown. I used public transportation and is a beautiful ride. It takes like one hour, but I rather be in a peaceful neighborhood, away from downtown.

Stayed 4 nights on vacation with my wife and 7 year old son. This hotel wasn't my choice, but it was the only hotel in Montevideo with a vacancy on dates I needed. Was pretty scared after reading the other review. But, here's my opinion based on my experience.
NEGATIVES:
Room was facing a busy street and it was pretty noisy.
Twice, smell of smoking from other rooms reached our room.
Heater blew straight down on the head of the beds and was bothersome.
Shower was not completely enclosed from rest of bathroom.
Outside and rooms are unattractive and cheap looking (think old Motel 6).
If you don't rent a car, you're several miles from downtown and most tourist attractions, though there is a small restaurant across the street and there is supermarket and a small indoor shopping center within 1/2 mile or so if you're into walking.
No elevator, but there are only 2 floors.
Beds and couch were cheap wood frame. Mattresses and pillows were thin and very firm. If you want/need a firm mattress, maybe this is a positive.
Free breakfast was VERY light, like 2 pieces of toast or one medialuna (croissant) with butter and jam with cofffee and juice.
WiFi did not reach the room.
POSITIVES:
Room available when there was none anywhere else in town.
VERY clean inside and out.
VERY friendly, professional, courteous and helpful staff. Checking in required nothing more than ID. Checking out, there was a misunderstanding similar to the last review about the extra bed, but I pointed out the rate quoted on the Internet and verbally only on our reservation and they were quick to resolve the issue in our favor. No surprise on the bill at checkout.
WiFi worked well in the lobby.
Lobby and dining room were a little more upscale (think LaQuinta).
Small selection of drinks and snacks were available for purchase.
Reliably placed a couple of International calls, at an extra charge of course.
Pretty close to the airport.
There's a fairly nice kid's playground in a park less than 1/2 mile away.
Pretty close to the beach.
SUMMARY:
If you have high expectations and looking for the negative, if you're looking for and used to something more upscale, you're almost sure to be disappointed. If you don't have too high of expectations, if you can deal with the transportation issue, if you're looking for a clean hotel with courteous and professional staff without the frills at an economy price, then this may be the place for you.
