Finally, went to Cafe Gourmand for a late Saturday breakfast and they TRULY lived up to their stellar reputation!
Fresh sour dough baked bread, fresh squeezed orange juice, made-to-order Eggs Benedict with fresh avocado, tomato, bacon, delightfully fresh hollandaise sauce and finished off with a fresh spring of dill! Try a freshly-baked, softball-sized cinnamon roll with citrus icing along with a freshly brewed coffee made from beans roasted on-site! So many uses of the word "fresh"...!
Cafe Gourmand is a perfect example of the fact that nothing beats high quality, in terms of both food and service! They apparently have other event-based reasons to visit, like a Friday Burger Night, that are a great excuse for a return visit!
Last but, certainly not least, the owners consist of a constantly smiling and blissfully sweet young Lady from Montana, USA and a clearly fun, passionate, and clearly vastly talented chef from France! Montana, you ask? So, did I and you should too!
The entire Cafe Gourmand staff is happy, fun-loving, professional, amazingly friendly and helpful, especially sweet Mariana, who speaks fluent Spanish and English but, sounds like she has a French accent!
Cafe Gourmand is NOW my favorite restaurant in Montevideo and I'm terribly sorry that it took me so long to visit but, I will catch-up! I promise! My advice is to make a reservation because this place is popular and fills up quickly…
Thanks again to all for a great time and great food!
Keep up the TRULY great work...!
See you again soon...
