“Amazing!”
Reviewed September 25, 2012

This is the one place to go for a sophisticated but unpretentious night out with friends, especially if you have people over from abroad and want to take them somewhere special. The food is amazing, the smell, the color, presentation. And tastes even better! We enjoyed a good wine too, the selection is wide the prices are ok. The atmosphere is great for conversing, soft music, soft lights...The service was perfect, the chef and owner visited the table to suggest the appropriate dish depending on our tastes. Really there is no place like Tandory in Mv, highly recommended!

“BEST of Montevideo”
Reviewed September 9, 2012

I spend a few days in Montevideo with my mom and we decided to try Tandory because it had high review on TripAdvisor and it happened to be close to our hotel. Eating at Tandory was probably the highlight of our stay. It was absolutely amazing. The place is rather small, but charming and comfortable. While we were looking at the menu the chef came out to explain the menu to us and recommend a wine. He stayed and chatted with us for a while and was so welcoming and nice. When we got our food it was to die for. I'm pretty sure that anything on this menu tastes amazing. We ended up staying at the restaurant for a long time, talking to the waiters and other guests. It's most definitely a place that you can't miss while in Montevideo. Find a way to get there!

“I welcome alternative in Montevideo”
Reviewed September 4, 2012

We were in Uruguay visitIng family and friends in Canlones and I wanted to take them out for something other than carne, which is incredible in Uruguay. I checked out TA and Tandory was listed as number one and the reviews were good so 8 of us went last night.

First, the service is very good. Attentive without being obnoxious, the rIgnt balance. They were also knowledgable about the menu, which is tough since it is so varied.

The food was up to the reviews. We had a mix of the starters as this was the first time many of the people had ever had this food. It was a mix of Asian and Middle Eastern and all cooked properly. For main course we had the fish, a few ways, curry chicken, Singapore noodles, pork and shrimp curry. I tasted all the dishes and found them all to be very well cooked and seasoned. The salmon was cooked to perfection medium rare. What I found best is this was the first time many of the people had ever had this type of food and they all loved it. In my mind a very high complement. In short, I agree with the reviews. It is well worth the money and the best place I have eaten in Montevideo in over 20 years (that is not a classic parillada place).

“Great Place, Great Food”
Reviewed September 4, 2012

Went here on a Wednesday in August. We made a reservation for 9PM and when we arrived we were the only people there - but within a half hour - it was packed. So - go early or make a reservation. The place is on a quiet street; we were advised to not walk back to our hotel from there.

The restaurant is charming, warm, comfortable and the staff are friendly and wonderful. The chef explained the menu and took our orders before heading into the kitchen. A really creative menu and we loved his complex flavors and unique spice combos. The prices were on the expensive side, but well worth it. I will definately go there again and would highly recommend this place.

““still the best””
Reviewed August 24, 2012

it is so comforting to have the owner and chef explaining in detail how these so exclusive dishes are prepared... a real world traveller that has collected experiences and offers a select menu
one little piece of an advice, not a a place to go and eat, but to enjoy the dinner. so if you are in a hurry or do not feel like really wanting to experience state of the art skip it till you are in the right mood. Unforgettable
