We stayed the night here after a day trip to the sacred valley before moving on to Machu Picchu. The town of Yucay is quite small but a short stroll down the main strip gives views of (I believe) the peak of Mt Veronica and two of the oldest trees in the sacred valley. (~450 years). The hotel grounds and garden were spectacular with well manicured trees/flowers. The restaurant had a very talented musician and good food although service was lack-luster. The bar seemed to be happening but we were too tired to party all night. Overall a beautiful hotel in overwhelming scenery.

It seems to be de rigeur in the Sacred Valley to put people in hotels out in the countryside where there is nothing to do. The hotel is satisfactory but not brilliant and a bit hard to judge when there are only about 4 rooms out of several hundred that are occupied. You end up in these places late afternoon as your tour through the valley ends and you are in the middle of nowhere. I don't see the point.

After the delights of charming Cusco and awesome Ollantaytambo, La Casona offered a little slice of peace and tranquility and a good nights sleep before moving onto magnificent Machu Picchu!

We arrived one late afternoon in mid-October after an energetic days sightseeing, in time to appreciate the setting sun on the distant snow capped mountains and the beautiful grounds of the hotel. An early evening around a welcoming open fire prepared us for a good night and a not-too-early start to catch the train to MP the following day.

Couldn't fault the rooms, clean and functional, impressive shower pressure. Food and drink both most acceptable.

Would recommend this place as a stop-off/base for doing Machu Picchu and exploring the Sacred Valley for longer than our schedule allowed.

I was also on the Adventures Abroad tour and welcomed the peace and quiet of this lovely hotel in the Sacred Valley. Had lunch in the restaurant and had some excellent crepes - a couple of fellow travellers enjoyed the quinoa soup. The dining room was very nice and there was some good local entertainment. I think we all really enjoyed the experience after the hustle and bustle of Lima. It was an early night because we had an early train to Machu Picchu the next morning so we didn't get a lot of time at this hotel but I really enjoyed my time there.
The room was basic but certainly adequate, the grounds were lovely and the setting was beautiful. I will definitely recommend this hotel to friends travelling to Peru.

After a couple of nights in a very noisy hotel in Lima, we really enjoyed the peace and quiet of this hotel. However, it was only a way-stay on our Adventures Abroad tour - we arrived for an early check-in at about 11 a.m., had time for a lovely nap (needed as we had left Lima at 4 a.m.), and lunch (try the Incan Quinoa Soup with Quail Egg - fantastic) before our afternoon tour of Ollantaytembo (sp?). Then back for supper (also very good), and an early evening as we had to catch the train to Macchu Picchu quite early the next morning. Our room was nothing fancy but perfectly adequate. Unlike a previous poster, we had no problems with the heat (hey, we're Canadian!) or with cleanliness, the room was A-OK. Lovely grounds, and as noted before, the silence was golden! A single travelling companion had a rather over-the-top two story room - bed and bath upstairs, spiral staircase down to a sitting room (not sure what one would do there besides sit - the TV is upstairs... but still a bit out of the ordinary...) Can't really comment on value as we have no idea of room cost, it was included as part of our tour.

Room Tip: From what I remember, all of the rooms were behind the lobby/restaurant/courtyard, and off the highw...

This hotel is so quaint and beautiful, it's almost worth the trip to Peru just to stay there. It feels sort of like a cabin in the mountains, a lot of wood trim and hardwood floors. The rooms are clean and comfortable, the restaurant and bar/lounge are clean and the staff is friendly and helpful. Before or after a trip to Macchu Pichu, it's definitely a nice, relaxing way to spend the evening.

This hotel is set in an amazing visual. Beautiful gardens, beautiful mountains and a truly wonderful outlook.
But.....
The rooms are average at best. Cold with a small radiator that only just takes the chill off the room.
The bathroom has poor ventilation and drainage making it quite smelly.
The rooms are semi clean but could really do with a makeover. New drapes and paint could make it a bit more inviting.
Plenty of bugs and ants over everything.
Low lighting makes it hard to really see anything. Which becomes a problem if you are getting ready to check out when it is still dark.
Aparently there is free wifi. But if you ask for the code, they will shut the wifi off within the hour and only turn it back on when you are ready to check out.
The buffet breakfast is good. But the a la carte menu is average and overpriced. Stale bread, chicken soup that had 4 small pieces of chicken, 3 pieces of carrot, 6 pieces of sliced bean, a table spoon of noodlesand a watery broth that was made of powdered stock. Very unimpressed.
It is a beautiful looking hotel but it really lacks in detail.
