“Luxury in a Wonderful Setting”
Reviewed September 23, 2013

I enjoyed one night at this property during a recent visit to the Sacred Valley. The staff here was wonderful, accommodations phenomenal and the setting/architecture was absolutely stunning. Can't say enough positive about this resort--visit the outdoor covered bar for an afternoon drink if you have time or try the lap pool! Great place that I hope to visit again in the future.

This hotel has been built to blend in with it's surroundings. We could have cheerfully stayed here for a month. The staff were delightful in every way, the room spacious and comfortable, the separate walk in closet a bonus. The pool, the restaurant and surroundings were way above our expectations given the location. The room did have a rather complex lighting system which we never quite worked out. The coca tea which was always on tap helped us to aclimatise to the altitude.

Room Tip: Try to get a room on the upper floors to get a better view. The lower floors look straight into a hi...

A delightful hotel as we approach Machu Picchu. The room was delightful but perhaps the view from the window could have been better, as a very steep hill raises after the river. A very modern hotel a lot of timber and glass but service/ food and cleanliness is very good. This Hotel is perhaps a passing through Hotel but I would have happily spent a few days exploring the area.
Wish we had explored the gardens. Ye a location to return to if in PERU again

Room Tip: Try to get a room that is not at the back of the building otherwise yo will only have a view of a s...

We stayed at the Tambo del Inka for 5 nights and truly could not have
had a better experience. They have honestly thought of everything to
make their guests feel so welcome. The first time you walk in you can
immediately tell that no expense was spared in the construction and
decoration of the hotel. It is beautifully decorated with modern
twists while still keeping true to the spirit of Peru. The check in
process was smooth and flawless. You check in actually sitting at a
desk, which was a wonderful personal touch. Before being helped to our
room with all of our luggage, we were offered cups of coca tea, which
they have available in the lobby all the time. Besides the fact that
it's delicious, it is also supposed to help with altitude sickness.

The room was absolutely gorgeous. Very spacious walk in closet, living
area, and bathroom. The bathroom had both a shower and a bath that
were separate and set up in a very cool way. We had a very nice view
of the river so definitely ask if that is available. The room was
absolutely spotless. They provide you with bottled water every day
when they service the room which was great. The hotel grounds are also beautiful. If you are looking for a luxurious place to get away, this is it.

I cannot say enough about the wonderful service. Everyone from the front desk agents to the restaurant staff, the concierge, and the bellmen went above and beyond to make sure our stay was a memorable one. They literally have thought of every detail, and it was all beyond perfect. The staff make it a point to greet you when you pass by and were all so friendly.

The hotel is in a great central location for accessing the other ruins located in the Sacred Valley. We arranged several private tours that were very reasonably priced to the surrounding areas, and our drivers were all very polite and accomodating. They will drive you to whichever site you pick and wait for you while you explore, which was awesome. Getting around can be tricky if you don't know what you're doing so this was a great way to take some of the stress off and just enjoy the sights!

We ate in the hotel restaurant 2 nights while we were there and the food was excellent. Very well executed and a good variety we thought. Although it's a bit pricey (it's in a 5 star hotel after all), it was well worth the splurge. Breakfast each morning was a fantastic spread of food. They have a ton of options and definitely something for everyone. The bar was fantastic too. They have several signature piscos that were delicious, and the bar patio was beautiful. It was nice to relax outside and hear the river in the background.

The only comments I have, and mind you these are very minor things. The pool was just a little bit chilly. Not so chilly as to prevent you from enjoying it but just something to note. Also, there is only a hot tub in the ladies locker room, not the mens so just something to be aware. Like I said, very minor details in the grand scheme of things, and not an invconvenience to us in the slightest.

After traveling for almost 40 hours, it was awesome to finally arrive
at such a luxurious hotel and be treated so wonderfully. I would recommend this hotel to anyone!

Room Tip: Ask for a view of the river!

What can I say. This place is amazing. We spent half a day being pampered in the spa, hung out in our spacious modern and comfy room, and enjoyed delicious meals and beverages at very reasonable prices. Everyone was warm and beyond helpful. Free wifi. Fabulous room. Amazing decor. Do not hesitate to stay here after trekking through the Sacred Valley or just exploring Machu Picchu. You earned it.

This 5-star hotel is a luxurious retreat in the Sacred Valley. Staying hear for a night was a perfect way to relax and indulge after hiking to Macchu Picchu. There is a train that goes once per day directly from the Macchu Picchu to the hotel, which was very convenient (book on Peru Rail website to Urubamba station). The room was gorgeous with tall ceilings, a luxurious bathroom, iPod docking station, lights that fade in and out, and a nice view.

One thing to keep in mind: the rate that concierge quoted us for tours and transportation was very high than what we were able to get elsewhere (for instance, they quoted us $140 for a taxi for a half day, when we were able to arrange one ourselves for about half the price in an equally nice car). So you might want to shop around if you are making arrangements for transportation or tours. I think they figure that since it is such a fancy hotel, their guests are not as value conscious.

Arriving at Tambo del Inka in Urubamba is like finding an Oasis. Arquithectonaly looks like a Colorado luxury sky resort, no snow.
My only recomendation is that they need to improve the creativity of the culinary experience. If you stay more than one night, you will see the same menu, they only change the soup of the day.

A hotel of this stature needs to up at least 3 notches to be up to par in the food experience. Hope they will !!!
