“Gorgeous setting”
Reviewed May 18, 2013

This was just outstanding. What an amazing setting. Step out of the hotel room onto a small veranda, overlooking the stream with mountains in the background. Spectacular. Enormous bathroom, comfy bed, plenty of coathangers in the wardrobe. Everything you could want. It was a pity that I was on a business trip!

This facility is simply top-notch. We stayed in 6 top-rated hotels in Peru and this place was, hands down, among the best. EVERYTHING about our stay was perfect. There are no "third world" defects to be found throughout the property. The rooms are well designed and the hotel is a refreshing break from your typical hotel experience. The bathrooms are very spacious and all the furniture was comfortable. The lighting in each room and throughout the hotel creates an ambience that is difficult to explain. The grounds are oak-like and the river view is wonderful.

We tried the bar and ate dinner both nights in the restaurant and were not disappointed with presentation or quality of the food. I had a lamb dish one night and a gourmet guinea pig dish the next and was impressed with each.

The breakfast buffet was much better than that of some of the other chains we tried in Peru.

The wait staff was friendly and excellent- in fact, while other hotels brag about "personalized service" these guys are simply executing personalized service. EVERYONE knows your name by the second day.

If you are visiting Valle Sagrado, DEMAND to be booked here.

The staff has been unbelievably carrying in all departments: from front porch to spa, from bar to restaurant...
As an example, the Pisco Sour were so good that I asked the recipe: at the bar they guided me to practise and make an additional one, and they left it to me for free! !
The room was really large and beautifully decorated,.like the rest of the hotel. Only thing that could be improved: the AC is a bit noisy. But the bed is really heavenly!
The swimming pool is incredible, half inside and half outside, there is a dry sauna accessible to all guests.
The gym is not big but good enough with usual attentions (apples, water, towels...).
The restaurant is just great. There are very nice fire places both in the lobby and in the restaurant.
To go to Machu Picchu, you can catch a train in the hotel garden itself. It is a kind of luxury but it ends up not so handy as you have to be ready at 6h30 in the lobby, but it is very slow and you reach the station bellow Machu Picchu only around 9h15, and there is only one schedule to come back, the return taking also 3 hours...
So it is nice but slow...
This hotel is really like heaven!

We landed in Cusco and were driven to the Tambo Del Inka. I must say that it was our second choice but having stayed here I am glad we did. Great location, helpful staff, delicious food, and gorgeous room. Every need is catered for. I am always amazed at how people can find little inconsequential things to nit pick in their reviews. We do stay at some rather nice hotels across the globe and this hotel is certainly up to any challenge. The town of Urubamba is safe and a great place to explore. Be sure to stop at Seminario's workshop for some classy Peruvian mementos.
Would go back in a jiffy.

Room Tip: Look for rooms on the right wing facing the river

We had an amazing suite overlooking the glacier with a patio and comfortable seating and a personal assistant assigned to us to handle everything from the normal concierge duties to scheduling our spa within the hotel. The views were just gorgeous, we never got sick of the restaurant menus (though we did venture out in town for meals), the staff were top notch, and the spa treatments were unique to the area. My only wish would be for another pool, as the pool is very small, and always seemed a bit crowded (though this was a school vacation week) so that we never used it. Maybe an adult only pool and, like another of the reviewers mentioned, a hot tub for both genders? It was wonderful being closer to the Machu Picchu ruins than Cusco, which was an hour down the road, and with the hotel having its own train, made the journey, which can take 3+ hours, significantly shorter. Regardless, we extended our stay an extra day and fully enjoyed ourselves at the hotel.

Room Tip: Getting a suite is totally worth it for the room and personal assistant who comes with it.

Great location for visiting Machu Picchu and the Sacred Valley. The hotel is in a beautiful setting in the foothills of the mountains with a river running behind. The lobby is very elegant with an impressive fireplace and the rooms are luxurious. The only disappointing thing was the breakfast, we were served cold eggs and the service was a bit slow.
