“Beautiful place to stay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 8, 2012

Four of us stayed here in one house. Everyone, and I do mean everyone, on staff was very helpful and friendly. They suggested places to see and things to do. They even arranged our transportation. The grounds were lovely to walk around. I would love to stay here again!

We've just returned to Cuzco from Kyuchi Rumi, and are really missing its spaciousness, beauty, and peace. Our cottage was so comfortable, loved the log fire, the sunny balcony off our upstairs bedroom, and the comfortable outdoor lounges on the downstairs courtyard, where we watched the hummingbirds.
Whilst not cheap by Peruvian standards, all the extras made it good value for money. Nothing was ever too much trouble for Rodrigo or Ursula, who quietly and happily fulfilled every request.
Our driver, Rosalie, was safe and reliable, and spoke enough English for us to get by.
Rodrigo organised our train tickets to Macchu Piccu, and because I booked well ahead, we had the two front seats on the train- we looked straight through the window ahead onto the tracks- amazing! When we arrived back, late and tired, our fire had been lit, and as requested, a tasty dinner cooked for us. It was like returning home.
Urumbamba isn't a particularly interesting town, but it's location is very central, so we were able to do a day trip to Chinchero markets, The salt mines and Moray all in one day quite comfortably. Another day we relaxed in the morning, and then visited the Ican ruins at Ollyantaytambo in the afternoon.
Before arriving, I wasn't sure we really should be staying in a two bedroom cottage when there were just two adults, but it was so nice to have the space and privacy, after weeks of hotel stays.
Overall, this was just a wonderful experience.

Room Tip: Our cottage, number 2, was very sunny, and had a fabulous fireplace.

We stayed at Kuychi Rumi in Urubamba for 3 nights before our Inca Trek last month. As soon as we arrived, we fell in love with the place. We love it so much that we cancelled our outing the next day and spent the whole day at “home” to enjoy it.

This is a place with a group of beautiful Andean homes in a charming flower garden, surrounded by mountains. We were welcomed by gentle dogs, cheerful hummingbirds... and best of all, the people: Rodrigo, Claudia, and Ursula!

Rodrigo is always patient and thoughtful. He offered a lot of advices to my trip planning. I already did some research before contacting him, and wasn’t expecting his help other than lodging. But after all, he arranged almost everything for us in Sacred Valley: 4-day Inca Trek; transportation from airport/train station and tour the Sacred Valley; hotel in Cusco after our Inca Trek (and luggage transfer); even tour bus tickets from Cusco to Puno…

Claudia really made us feel like home. When she says “don’t worry, we’ll take care of it”, she really mean it. She not only made reservation for us to dine at excellent local restaurants, but also prepared delicious breakfast for us every day. Her freshly made juice was so good!

Ursula is a very nice lady who helped taking care of other details during our stay. She called us on the first day even before our arrival at the hotel, when we were still in Cusco, to remind us how to avoid high attitude sickness. She checked with us every day to make sure we had everything we needed. We miss her sweet voice and smile!

Julio is a very skillful driver arranged for us by Rodrigo. He picked up us at 7am the first day from Cusco airport, and dropped us at 10:30pm the last day at the Cusco hotel (the travel time between Urubamba and Cusco is more than one hour). He was always patient and accommodating, and we felt so relaxed and safe on his car.

Our Inca Trek with Pachamama Explorers was wonderful too. Kuychi Rumi is on the way from Cusco to the Inca trailhead at KM 82 (only ~1 hour away). Rodrigo/Ursula arranged direct pick up for us at 8 am on day one. (Most of people start from Cusco, and have to get ready at ~5am, take ~3 hour until they reach the trailhead). The guide, chef and porters are great!

This is not an ordinary hotel. It’s more like a very nice vacation home or B&B. It's not even star rated, but the exceptional personal service we received is better than 5-star!

We planned to stay 2 days...and ended up staying over a week at Kuychi Rumi. Claudia and her husband are great hosts and organize for you. They are passionate about their place and you see that in every detail. The houses are warm and cosy...it's like being at home away from home. The garden is full of blissful flowers and lovely hummingbirds. It's is like being in heaven!
We highly recommend the Kuychi Rumi.....and we are sure you will love it as we loved it !

This was hands down the best hotel stay I have ever had. Rodrigo and his sister Claudia, along with the entire staff go to great lengths to ensure your stay, and indeed your entire time in Peru, is comfortable and goes smoothly. With its cozy cabins and beautifully landscaped grounds, Kuychi Rumi is a small paradise nestled in one of the most beautiful valleys on earth. I travelled last fall to get married at Machu Picchu with a large group of my family and that of my wife, so the logistics were a bit daunting. Before our trip, I communicated extensively with Rodrigo and his advice was invaluable. During our stay, all of our excursions were brilliantly planned out with a fantastic guide, Daniel. The breakfasts were the best meals we ate in Peru, and we treated ourselves to some of the fancier establishments. I could have stayed my entire two weeks at Kuychi Rumi and been completely content. I cannot wait to make it back to this treasure. Thanks Rodrigo!

We have just spent a very special 4 days in one of the houses at Kuychi Rumi.

The gardens are completely stunning and the houses are spacious and very homely.
My two little girls spent ages playing with the dogs around the huge gardens. The planting is very much like an English country garden - not at all what I expected from the pictures.

Rodrigo also arranged out trip and guide to Macchu Pichu and our hotels in Cusco. Everything ran very smoothly.

Claudia and Ursula were excellent hosts.

You must stay here!!

We visited South America this Febuary from Australia with a 2 week trip to Antarctica our main destination but we added another 3 weeks to check out Rio, the Amazon, Argentina and also a quick trip to Peru to see Machu Picchu. We saw KR(kuychi rumi) on TA so i emailed to get some prices and info.Rodrigo emailed back promply about when we were planning to come, what we wanted to do and then helped plan an itinerary for us.He was fantastic, no need for a travel agent, Rodrigo arranged it all. We arrived in Cusco in the morning and were met at the airport and taken (1hr trip) to KR where we stayed that night (dinner at local restaurant).Next day we left our main luggage behind (just took a overnight pack)and got taken to ollantaytambo to catch the train to Aguas Calientes for an overnight stay before visiting MP the next morning. We caught the late train back to olly and was met and driven back to KR for another great stay before departing to Cusco the following day. Rodrigo booked the train, MP tickets, recommended restaurants and hotel in AG and we were very happy with everything.I was a bit unsure about his advice about paying for a private english speaking MP guide for just the 2 of us, which was a bit pricey, but so glad we did and not got stuck in large slow moving groups, once again Rodrigo was spot on. The villas at KR are like a home away from home, private, roomy and Claudia's home cooked breakfast was a treat, with a friendly chat each morning. We loved the many friendly dogs on the property and the fireplace in #2 in something to see. Thanks Rodrigo and Claudia and if we are ever in Peru again or our friends we will definately come back.
