“A beautiful respite”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 20, 2014

Our hosts at La Capilla have created a wonderful ambiance that invites you to relax and dally, yet its central location in the heart of the Sacred Valley promises interesting day trips. So we did both! Originally booking a short stay, we extended our time, and even returned after going to Machu Picchu for a total of ten days.
Rest times were spent in a beautiful private garden with a very accomodating hammock. Add good food, good wine, and exceptional hosts--Chris, Rhomina, Gladys, and the lovely Beatrice. After each outing, we really felt like we were going "home." Comfortable rooms, a guarantee of hot water, it was a very pleasant stay.
Location just outside of Urubamba (accessible by cheap moto-taxis), we used the collectivos to Ollanta--3 soles, bus to Pisac, and left wanting to do more of the not so touristy hiking near by, so of course we plan on returning to truly the best lodge in the valley, La Capilla.

Searching for accommodation in the Sacred Valley? Stop looking further! This is the perfect place to stay. Actually it was by far the best lodge we had in Peru.
A warm welcome from Rhomina upon arrival. No hot meal for lunch was available but Rhomina kindly offered an avocado sandwich to be prepared for us. It was tasty and highly appreciated as we were very hungry and being a bit further from Urubamba center it was quite convenient for us.
Then Rhomina arranged a taxi to take us to Moray and the Salineras. In the meantime we had a nice talk in the lovely garden with Chris. He shared knowledge on the Sacred Valley, the people living there and the whole idea they running this special and wonderful lodge. He also told stories about their own life and examined the heating system together with my partner Steve.
To make sure that your dinner is freshly made from fresh ingredients you need to order it during the day - until 6pm if I remember right. We had quinoa with cheese, lomo saltado and salad. All were wonderful.
Next day we had an organized tour with Media Luna to visit a few local farmer. Unfortunately it was far away from our expectations so we decided to leave after 15 minutes and returned to La Capilla where Steve offered to Chris to fix a leaky pipe together. First he refused it as we were on holiday but Steve is really into fixing things so finally he convinced Chris who expressed his gratitude by invited us to a nice local restaurant in Urubamba for a hearty and delicious lunch. While the boys were working we had a nice chat with Rhomina in the garden. Later collecting their cute little daughter from school and met with the boys in the restaurant in Urubamba. After lunch we went to the market together and spent some time on the main square.
According to Booking.com information last Sunday of the month is BBQ day. As Chris was very busy on that day and nobody else was interested in this opportunity except us he kindly offered to prepare grilled salmon, chicken or beef to us on Monday evening. We went for the salmon and chicken and had dinner with Rhomina and Chris together. The food was very delicious and the company was more than perfect.
In the evenings we chatted in the bar with Chris and other guests and sipping Pisco sour made by Chris - the most special one we had in Peru. To learn the secret visit this extraordinary place!
I cannot emphasize enough how special experience is to stay here with this adorable family. During our whole visit we felt actually as we were part of the family. Exactly as Chris and Rhomina intend it to be.
Thanks again for making our stay so intimate and memorable! I wish we had the chance to return one day and meet you again!

Recently stayed at La Capilla for 3 nights with my family of 5. The lodge is a little paradise in the Sacred valley. Convenient location, great food, and truly wonderful hosts. Chris and Rhomina are friendly, knowledgeable and extremely accommodating. Wish we could have stayed longer!

I really enjoyed staying two nights here. I had a shared room, but nobody else came to share it. The shared room has an electrically heated shower. I was exhausted on arrival so it was nice to be greeted with Coca tea and a comfortable bed.

The food was great - good breakfasts and I had quinoa risotto one day and fresh trout another for dinner. They buy water and are very careful in preparing food.

There is a hammock in a delightful garden, a lounge to relax in and a bar. There is an exercise bike outside for anyone who wants to work out - but I wouldn't call it a fitness center for this review.

You can get from Urubamba to La Capilla Lodge with a mototaxi - ask them to take you to the door up a track. You can flag down a bus or collectivo on the main road to go to ruins at Ollantaytambo.

Our family stayed here in March for 4 nights and it was and amazing experience.
La Capilla is just a beautiful place to stay, it is safe, secure and relaxing but what makes it truly special is the wonderful family that takes care of you.Our room was so nice, our bed was comfortable and the kids each had their own up in the loft. You can hang out in the awesome garden area with views of the mountains or sit in the lounge/bar area and have a bottle of wine. There was coffee, tea and water available in the kitchen at all hours but we really enjoyed sitting at the bar after a long day of sightseeing and sharing stories with Chris over a beer. We can't say enough about Chris and Romina's desire to make your stay the best it can be. They are a wealth of information and made our daily excursions that much more enjoyable, even arranged transportation for us a couple of times. La Capilla is just outside the town of Urubamba and is a perfect location to stay and enjoy all the sacred valley has to offer. We easily toured the area from this central location (Machu Picchu, Ollantaytambo, Pisaq, Las Salineras salt mine, Moras-Moray etc.) Transportation is readily available and very affordable, moto-taxis, cabs, combies, buses, just sit back and enjoy the view. This place is rated 5 star across the board for a reason, it is fantastic. Thank you so much Chris and family.

First time traveling to Peru as always I relied on trip advisor for most of my lodging and food decisions I have to admit I had reservations because it was not listed under Hotels but after some arguments and discussions with Family members we decided to book two rooms for six nights to explore the Sacred Valley
I can't find words to describe the experience it was so amazing and unique The moment you enter the property you become Chris and Romina's friends not guests
they along with Romina's parents and Staff go out of their way to make your stay a memorable experience The quality of the facility from linens to showers was excellent we dined a few times in their kitchen and hang at the bar Amazing cream of Choclo and some of the best Pisco Sours we had in Peru While in Peru we also Stayed in Miraflores Lima, Tierra viva Cusco and Tierra viva Puno, La capilla was by far the best of all Like I said before it is difficult to decide how to describe the experience Im so glad we stayed there I will definitely recommend this place to stay while you explore Pisac, Chincheros, Maras, Salinera, Ollantaytambo Machu Pichu, etc etc It is a central point and they will take care of you as a friend while still respecting your privacy and boundaries

Room Tip: I got to stay at "The Puma" for six nights (Best room on the Property )
