“Its jewel in middle of no were”
Reviewed January 29, 2013

We had lunch at Tunupa as part of a one day Sacred Valley tour organized by a tour company .- Fiesta Tour Peru .
It’s a Wonderful place, the food was fresh well-presented , gentle staff, wonderful view - just by the river ; the is beautiful grounds where you will found colorful parrots , llamas and beautiful flora to admire.
the restaurant ambience is great too , there was indoor and outdoor seating. I recommend outside seats, perfect to enjoy the scenario and the music.
The spread at the buffet was vast, buffet style - was plentiful and very varied. The ceviche is made for you as your wish – marvelous !!!
we tried alpaca meat , it’s exotic , but I don’t recommend .
The desserts were very tasty – try the Picarones .
Sincerely we did not expect such nice restaurant in remote Urubamba. Its jewel in middle of no were

“Lunch in The Sacred Valley”
Reviewed October 20, 2012

This was our first visit to South America and we were concerned about the water, so we drank bottled only. We also avoided salads until we saw the fabulous display at the buffet tables of Tunupa, the food was great and no upset stomachs later. To make the experience even better the setting for this restaurant was on the bank of the Urubamba river. We had a lively Peruvian trio playing in the background. Our guide had lunch with us but said he would not normally come here as it was expensive for locals, we payed around $20, which was excellent value. I really enjoyed the Alpaca meat very tender and tasty.

“Touristy - but sometimes, that's what you want”
Reviewed October 11, 2012

We had lunch at Tunupa as part of a one day Sacred Valley tour organised by a tour company. Our tour was a full day tour and by lunch I was tired, hungry and in the mood to be pampered. When we booked our tour, we were asked whether we wanted to pay an extra 5USD to have lunch provided. Honestly, my expectations were very low and Tunupa was a pleasant surprise.

There was indoor and outdoor seating. I assume that since we were part of a tour group, the tour agency had reserved the best seats outside. We were fortunate that it was a lovely day, and being seated outside simply added to the overall experience. The grounds are beautifully designed and maintained.

The food - buffet style - was plentiful and very varied. I must admit that I was very surprised to see sushi on the menu. I tried as much local food as I could. The alpaca meat was a little tough but everything else was excellent. The local desserts were also very tasty - try a bit of everything local if you can.

“Nature and food : excellent mix”
Reviewed September 16, 2012 via mobile

During our excursion to the Sacred Valkey of the Incas, we stopped here to have lunch, and it was a beautiful place to eat. The quality and variety of meals satisfied our expectations. I would like to recommend you to taste the famous and delicious " Rice with Milk" or "Arroz con Leche". Then we enjoyed the spectacular view, the river, the harmony and the environment of this place is a invitation to celebrate life and nature.
