“A little slice of Paradise in Peru....”
Reviewed August 21, 2013

This is a place we would have loved to have spent several days in, but, sadly, our hectic schedule allowed for just one evening there after we arrived late in the afternoon (and we had to leave at 6:15 the next morning to catch the train to Machu Picchu - ugh!). Our room (a casita, actually) was wonderful. Lots of floor space, timbered tee pee-style ceiling, big king-size bed, beautiful bathroom and shower, and electric heat on a cool evening. The grounds were gorgeous, with lots of exotic blooming plants and flowers. Several nice meeting rooms, an attractive pool/cabana area, very nice restaurant/bar area, gift shop, etc. Overall, a very impressive property with controlled (gated) access, so you felt very secure while there.

Room Tip: I think all the rooms would be equally acceptable, as they are scattered around the property and not...

We enjoyed another wonderful night in the lovely Sol Y Luna and will stay again when next in the Sacred Valley. The staff are so friendly in the hotel and the restaurant provided us with a delicious meal and show. My favourite touch is the cosy hot water bottles delivered to the room at night. This hotel has the most beautiful gardens to walk through whilst soaking up the sun and fresh air. I can't wait until my next visit.

We spent only one night here on our tour of peru in two gorgeous little casitas and left very early the following morning. We did however sample the spa - good but not fantastic, the casual dining - not so casual but good food in a nice surroundings and there were some great acrobats performing a show. The gardens were beautiful and our welcome very good. Would have liked more time there.

This hotel is one of the most beautiful in the world. The Sacred Valley makes a sort of bowl of mountains around the property, and the cottages and gardens are extremely pretty. The fresh air in the morning and evening and the warm sun during the day make it seem like an Eden. We were upgraded to some fabulous rooms, about the best laid out of any I have stayed in. Having a real fire, lit on your command, each evening was a real treat. We had some great outings with Felix (horse-riding) and Hans (quad bikes and mountain bikes). Both were friendly and enthusiastic. All of this would make it five stars, except for a few minor irritations. First: you have to book to use even the casual restaurant, and to use the sauna or steam room (unexpected). Second, the trips were all booked as "half days" but several finished after 2.5 hours. I recommend if the length of the outing is important you clarify this before setting off. Third, when we asked for the 5 of us to be taken to Ollantaytambo for a half day tour, they quoted US$700! (Of course you can do this for less than $100 with taxis and own guide, but for a more similiar comparison Abercrombie & Kent quoted $250). I'm still not sure whether they were hoping to fool us or uninterested in doing the trip. Either way it reduces trust, and I would advise bench-marking any tours to be booked through the hotel with independent providers. The horse show run at the ranch is worth seeing.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for your review of our property and for liking the grounds and your casita. It is great you could enjoy the fireplace and your upgraded casita.

Felix and Hans were both delighted to be able to take you on your activities and we are glad you have enjoyed them.

The duration of the half day activities is only referential, as we only have from about 9am to 5pm of daylight and good temperature to be able to do these activities. You are correct, however, our guides should have explained it and we will make sure that from now on, it is so. We are also going to look into our pricing of activities for larger groups as you mention your experience of trying to book an Ollantaytambo excursion. There is no need of reserving the use of the restaurant in advance as you indicate, it might be that the restaurant was full when you tried to use it and we apologize for it.

Thank you again and hope to see you again with us in the Sacred Valley.

Warmest regards,

Sol & Luna Team

Oh my God!!! This is one of the most beautiful places I've ever stayed in my life!!! There are flowers everywhere and the bungalows are amazing!! The staff is so nice and helpful!! And the service is the tops!!!!! In addition to there being robes and slippers for us, they turned down our beds during dinner and put hot water bottles/compresses in our bed to make it nice and toasty. Much appreciated since the temp in Urubamba drops to 30 degrees Fahrenheit! They have 2 restaurants on the grounds. We ate at the more casual one and the food was so fresh and delicious!! I can't say enough about how amazing this hotel is. I can't wait to stay here again. Also, everybody we met who stayed there was so friendly and down to earth!!

If you are visiting the sacred valley in Peru, this is the place to stay. The photo of the casitas from t he hotel doesn't do this place justice. They aren't rustic or small -- beautiful art work and amazing room. The staff is friendly, helpful and quick to respond. The grounds are big with quiet places to read, nice gifts, two restaurants and a bar. We had a fireplace that we requested be lit and it warmed the room nicely. Entertainment on the quadrangles were a surprise and nice touch. The 6 of us ate at the two restaurants and enjoyed the meals and the decor.
