“Fantastic Lunch and Horse Show In A Beautiful Setting”
Reviewed January 29, 2013

We stopped off at the Wayra Horse Ranch in Urubamba for lunch and a show. We were served an array of rotisserie and grilled meats, empanadas, vegetables, potatoes, salads, fruits and desserts while the horses put on a show for us. The Peruvian Paso Horses walk in a certain way so it looks like they are dancing. There were also performers dancing traditional Peruvian dances. The background of the show is the breathtaking view of the Sacred Valley. This was the best lunch we had while in Peru. I would love to stay at this hotel one day.

Sol & Luna Lodge & Spa is one of the most beautiful, tranquil places in the world. The individual casitas are beautifully appointed and the grounds are magnificent. The restaurants are wonderful and the Wayna lunch (with show) was spectacular. The staff was most helpful and fluent in English.
We spent two nights there as we toured the Sacred Valley. It was a wonderful respite in the middle of our two week trip to the Galapagos, Sacred Valley and Macchu Pichu.

Definitely the nicest place in the Sacred Valley... that is if you are looking for peaceful surroundings, gorgeous views, serenity, and service. This isn't the place for people who "want to be seen": All units are private bungelows, so you get a very private experience, yet the resort is located right in the center of the Sacred Valley, making day trips to every location easy. Fantastic buffet breakfast included.

We stayed here three nights around New Years. We had a comfortable casita for our family of five and enjoyed terrific meals in the restaurant. When my husband got sick, the hotel was very helpful. It's a beautiful place.

Our travel agent suggested we spend a few nights at this beautiful property in order to get acclimatized before our walk up to Machu Pichu. It turned out to be a highlight of our trip. Sol y Luna is beautifully designed and luxuriously comfortable. The size of the rooms is perfect and we even had a fireplace in ours. The magnificent garden is very well kept and the setting is spectacular. The food was pretty good as well. The only thing I would suggest is to figure out your activities for your time there. They offer horse riding and can organize a taxi to take you to nearby Inka Ruins as well. To make it an all around complete experience the hotel could include a guided tour of the nearby attractions. That said, I would recommend Sol y Luna to anyone, be it a group of friends, a couple of families.

World class, comparable to other great resorts anywhere. Whilst remote, the location is breathtaking. Nestled in the sacred valley with snow capped peaks of the Peruvian Andes all round, and covering a large area it includes restaurants, an extraordinary wine cellar (ask to have a tour), horse stables, traditional dance and entertainment on horseback. The staff are professional, helpful and deservedly proud of the resort. We spent two days relaxing in the valley, we left the resort just once. Oh, and the food is excellent

Room Tip: Ask to see the wine cellar, or better still book the only table (larger group) in the wine cellar to...

My family and I recently stayed at Sol y Luna, and it was by far our favorite hotel during our vacation to Cusco, the Sacred Valley, Machu Picchu, and Puno! Our group of six opted for three Deluxe Casitas, and they more than met our expectations, with a wonderful bathroom and luxurious bathtub with view of a garden, large inviting beds, and beautiful and intriguing decor. You even have your own fireplace to curl up near each night. We also saw the Standard Casitas, and I would recommend that the upgrade to the Deluxe is well worth the price.

There are plenty of great things to do while staying, from reading a book, photographing the incredible assortment of flowers throughout the gardens, or watching the Paso Horse Show that the hotel puts on. We chose to the the full day horseback riding tour of Maras and Moray, and although this was a bit more strenuous on our legs than we would have liked, it was an incredible experience nonetheless.

The food was very delicious and fresh, the staff was very friendly, and overall an incredible experience. My only complaint is that we couldn't stay a few more nights...
