Warm and friendly staff, beautiful gardens, fantastic food. The accommodation is of a very high standard, high quality bedlinen adds to the sumptuos comfort of the beds. The bathroom is fitted out with high quality units. Garden space is cleverly designed to give maximum privacy. We even had a hot tub in the garden.. Loved the little touches such as, at night the lighted candle in the garden and the hot water bottle in the bed. Had a great pedicure. You can even go horse riding. Ideally situated for adjusting to altitute.
The best part was the comfort of the rooms. The worst part was leaving.

The town is within walking distance. We found the market well worth a visit the local people were warm and friendly. WE FELT COMPLETELY SAFE.

Two weeks ago, we stayed at the Sol Y Luna one night before and one night after our excursion to Machu Picchu. As mentioned in other reviews, the hotel grounds are absolutely beautiful, with acres of colorful native plants, fresh-water streams, and winding stone walkways. We stayed one night in a wonderful large, deluxe casita and one night in a delightfully round standard casita with stunning stained glass windows. Both were clean, very comfortable, and cheerfully decorated with local furniture and artwork.

The resort is surrounded by a 10 foot wall and rather remote, so we ate at the main dinning room just after we arrived. We were very disappointed in the menu, cold, austere dining room setting, and slow service - possibly the worst dining experience of our entire three-week South American trip. When we returned from our trip to Machu Picchu, we dined at the larger, group dining pavilion at the bottom of the hill from our casita. What a difference! Delicious food, spacious, relaxed atmosphere, and cheerful, helpful, and attentive servers. The manager came to our table to enure our dining satisfaction. After dinner, we were treated to a 30-minute equestrian "parade" featuring 10 costumed riders and their magnificent horses from the resort stables. What a delightful evening and well worth the walk down the hill.

We wished we could have stayed longer at Sol Y Luna, but our guide and van to Cusco were waiting early the following morning. Sol Y Luna definitely makes the "want-to-return" list.

Room Tip: Actually, the standard unique "round" casitas are just as comfortable as the larger, delux...

The views and ambiance are spectacular at this resort. Surrounded by lush foliage and fragrant flowers, the grounds exemplify the purity of the Peruvian spirit. We enjoyed a 20 minute complimentary horseback ride at the adjoining ranch and were treated to an outdoor evening performance in the style of Cirque de Soleil, compete with tight rope and trapeze. The food was fabulous! If you are looking for a quiet, luxurious respite with impeccable service, Sol Y Luna will delight you.

Wonderful. Large rooms. Excellent service. 2 on-site restaurants. Spa. And the grounds are spectacular; flowers and hummingbirds everywhere. Good, central location for touring Sacred Valley. Easy to arrange day trips. Easy access to Urubamba shopping and restaurants

Room Tip: Some rooms are near the horse barns and parade yard. Evening horse performances could disturb you f...

Two of us stayed one night at Sol & Luna and just wish we had more time. Not sure how much time it would have required to tire of this wonderful property - but one night surely not enough! Beautiful room, patio, facilities. Gorgeous flower beds and landscaping. Lovely staff. Breakfast excellent; our late dinner was not a fair test for the house. This was the better of the two hotels I was in during my trip to the Sacred Valley.

As others have said, this is a beautiful, thoroughly delightful resort, with lovely, flower-lined paths leading to charming individual casitas, and many amenities such as fine dining with food elegantly presented, the spa, etc. One can be with other people or feel happily alone, as each casita has a small porch and chairs, and the flowering bushes give one a sense of privacy.

However, I must mention a huge negative for me, the mattress that was like a plank of wood. I ended up putting pillows, the extra blanket, and both chair cushions under my sheet and finally slept a little, but suffered a nasty backache all the next day. A nice young man changing the linens the next morning saw the cushions and offered to put a soft pillow top pad on the bed. It helped the next night, but there ought to be one in every room to start with. The very fact that he had the pad indicates the hotel knows the mattresses are an issue.

I can't add much to the other recent rave reviews. The flowering plants everywhere are gorgeous; the whimsical sculptures made me smile; the food (included in our package from Nat. Geo.) was terrific. My only complaint - and it's a petty one - was that the room was underlit, which made packing in the dark rather difficult. I never expected such a beautiful place in the Sacred Valley.
