This hotel had everything we could ask for. It was quiet, beautiful, in a great location, and the staff was wonderful. Sure you can go in town and (maybe) find a better deal...but you will not find a better hotel or have a better experience. I specifically chose this hotel since it was a little drive to town. The staff was really patient with our limited Spanish using Google translate sometimes to communicate. (Remember, you are in their country!). Although the menu was limited on food selection, the meals were unbelievably delicious. The staff were always quick to provide assistance with arranging transportation and even helped with carrying heavy luggage. For our experience, there was nothing to complain about. I usually do not give top ratings but this hotel far exceeded all of our expectations. If we travel this way again, we'll definitely stay at Sacred Dreams Lodge.

Room Tip: We stayed during the non-peak season. Although being the start of the rainy season; days were sunny...

At $150 per night amongst hotels averaging $20 per night in the same area, I expected a luxurious hotel.

I contacted the hotel manager to arrange for a taxi driver who speaks English to pick us up from Cusco and to drive us around the Sacred Valley to visit tourist attractions such as the Pisac market and ruins, Chinceros, Ollataytambo, etc.  The hotel manager responded saying that he had arranged an English-speaking driver for us for $63.  On the day of pick up, a taxi driver arrived at Cusco, but spoke no English.  When we asked him to drive us around the Sacred Valley before arriving at the hotel as previously discussed with the hotel manager, he insisted that he was only engaged to take us straight to the hotel.

Feeling we had no choice, we went straight to the hotel, hoping that perhaps the hotel manager had arranged a separate driver to take us around the Sacred Valley after we checked in.

On arrival, the front desk had no idea about our prearranged plans to travel around the Sacred Valley, and no other driver was arranged for us.  We were basically stranded in this remote hotel for the rest of the day with no access to an English-speaking guide or driver to see the Sacred Valley.  I told the front desk about what was agreed and arranged with the hotel manager, so she contacted him (he was in Cusco at the time).  After 20+ phone calls back and forth, an hour later, and us grabbing our stuff and about to leave the hotel, the hotel manager finally agreed to what was committed through email and arranged one of his hotel staff to be our driver for the day.  He barely spoke a word of English and because of the late start we were only able to do 2 out of the 4 sites we wanted to visit.

On the next day, we had to check out early because we were starting the Inca Trail.  We had arranged for the hotel to serve breakfast at 5:15 am, and a taxi to pick us up at 5:45 am. Again, all was confirmed and appeared to be OK.

The next morning we arrived at the dining room at 5:15 and no one was there.  No breakfast was to be seen. 5:30 and still nothing.  At 5:45, it finally arrived:  A bowl of melons.  At 5:45, we decided to forego breakfast and check out as our taxi should have arrived.  It had not.

On check out, the card machine wasn't working, so we had to pay cash.  On paying cash, the hotel had no change.

We ended up leaving the hotel 20 minutes later than expected and caused a lot of grief to our new Inca Trail travel partners.  (20 people waiting for you at 6 am is not how you want to start the 4 day Inca Trail.)

There was nothing wrong with the building or environment, but I cannot recommend this hotel due to poor management.

We booked the Discover Peru vacation through www.latindestinations.com and we had two nights at the Sacred Dreams Lodge. I was more than pleased with the hotel, staff and food. Each building has 3 rooms with a common area. None of the rooms are exactly alike. I enjoyed waking up early and roaming around the hotel grounds for some photo opportunities and hiking around the creek that ran through the property. One evening we wanted to hike up to some ruins that are in the hills behind the hotel, but we weren't sure how to get to them, one of the hotel staff (Alejandro) guided us to them. The entire stay was incredible, I wanted to stay longer. If I ever make it back to Urubamba, there is no other hotel in which I would want to stay.

Make sure to stay at this very special little hotel if you are in the Sacred Valley of Peru. Is close to all the major attractions of Moray, Pisac, Chinchhero, Ollantaytambo, and Machu Picchu. The staff are very kind, the food and drink are also very good. The room are beautiful, clean and very quiet.

We decided to have a few relaxing days before our Machu Picchu adventure and very glad we picked this hotel. Its a bit out of town and so really need a taxi (but only 20 soles) but the setting is gorgeous and the accommodations, breakfast and facilities very good. Our room had a balcony overlooking the pretty grounds and was roomy with great bathroom. Our only comment would be that bottled water was not available in the rooms and really should be complimentary for a lodge of this calibre, especially as its so far from any shops. Staff were helpful and recommended a great restaurant (Tres Queros) although our limited Spanish meant we struggled a little bit with communication.

Room Tip: All looked great - there were more expensive suites with jacuzzis but we were fine in the superior d...
