“Delicious Food at 12,343 feet”

We were in a group of 14 people coming for lunch. The restaurant is located on a pretty flower laden yard. The restaurant is clean and bright with lots of windows overlooking the landscaped yard. We were welcomed with a glass of Pisco Sours or a glass of purple juice made from corn. The tables were set with white tablecloths, and all the walls were enhanced with artwork and knickknacks. We did not have to wait long for our meals which were delicious. I started with a vegetable soup which was seasoned just right. Next I had grilled trout which was crisp and delicious, I opted out of dessert but they looked scrumptious. There was only one washroom but the owner allowed us to use the washroom in his attached apartment. Very pleasant staff, great food.

“Food Done Well”
Reviewed May 4, 2014

There really aren't any other good tourist eateries in Chinchero, that I know of. We really wanted to stop here on our way back to Cusco for lunch, but they had a large group planned to arrive at any time. The owner was accommodating, suggesting we place our order and come back in an hour. It was worth it, as the food was very good, nice presentation, and such a pretty and unique, rustic and quaint setting in this little colonial town. The owner was quite busy with the large and demanding group, but very helpful, offering extra bread with and lemonade and chicha after our meal, apologizing profusely for not giving us better attention. The restaurant is not large, is better for small groups. We would love to stay there, in their hostel some day. The rooms are large, cozy and well designed from what we saw.

“CHINCHERO STOP”
Reviewed November 14, 2012

Some times is not easy to find a place to eat before getting to Urubamba, but the Casa de Barro is a nice option. You feel at home and the owners are very friendly and ready to satisfy your desires to eat.
