When we pulled in to the Aranwa Sacred Valley Hotel late at night it was like we were stepping in to another world. When we woke the next morning we felt that were truly in another world. After the train journey from Aguas Calientes and then a fairly lengthy bus ride from Ollantaytambo through rural dusty terrain which was very basic by comparison to the resort it was a great surprise to find somewhere as stunning as the Aranwa Sacred valley.
Our room was huge. A massive master bedroom with enormous bed and a large ante room with antique furniture and artworks overlooking a lovely courtyard that reminded us of a Spanish parador. The gardens and grounds were divine. Peacocks roamed around citrus and stonefruit trees surrounding a gorgeous pool area which was adjacent to ornamental ponds and a delightful chapel. All set in gardens which featured an amazing array of plants and flowers and with a stunning mountain backdrop.
The one disappointment came over dinner. The service was good but very overdone - they tried too hard and the food was nice but failed to live up to the overall standard of the resort. The wine list was a complete joke. They had run out of most selections on the list and kept trying to fob us off with varieties that we really didn't want. We ended up plumping for the best of a pretty poor selection.
Breakfast was plentiful with a good quality range of typical breakfast fare in a bright and sunny room overlooking the pool.
In fairness our stay was just one night on our way through from Machu Picchu to Cusco so our dinner experience could have been an aberration. Certainly our overall view was that we wished we could have had a longer stay to fully enjoy the beautiful surroundings.

This hotel is fantastic! It is an old Hacienda that has been carefully renovated, complete with its own chapel. There is a first class spa and the rooms are all decorated as if you are in Colonial Spain. The grounds are immaculate. There is a river running by, lots of wildlife a true treasure to be there. The food is excellent. Ask to stay in the old section, the rooms are part of the original hacienda, a real treat!

Room Tip: Ask to stay in the Colonial section, the rooms are part of the original hacienda.

We arrived in the Sacred Valley on our fifth day in Peru. The Hotel was paradise. Rarely have I seen a more beautifully landscaped hotel. The pair of peacocks on the property were a nice touch and the rooms were excellent. 3 of the four of us had spa treatments which were excellent as well. We were disappointed the pool and hot tub were closed. The food was very good and the gym was very nice. The hotel was an oasis in an otherwise rustic area of the valley. We didn't want to leave.

Room Tip: We had a deluxe room with 2 queen beds.

I stayed in room 110. No patio but still nice. This hotel is literally in the middle of nowhere. If you weren't aware of it's existance, you would have no idea it was there. Likely one of the best hotels in the country of Peru with the best English speaking employees. Oddly enough, even at American chain hotels in Peru, not everyone spoke English well if at all. The infinity pool was lovely, a nice choice of restaurants, spa and cinema and shops all at this lovely hotel. Make sure you stay atleast 2 nights.

This is one of the most beautiful places we've ever stayed. The grounds are spectacular with pro fusions of flowers at every turn. Rooms are huge and come with Jacuzies - just the perfect way to end a day of exploring. Unfortunately we weren't there long enough!

Room Tip: There isn't a bad room in the entire resort.

My husband and I spend two days in May. We had a very good experience.
The hotel is built in an old Hacienda grounds, the old building with its church are still there renovated. We spend our last day of the trip relaxing in the pool and walking in the gardens.
Originally we wanted to stay in Ollaytantambo but decided to change to Aranwa. This was a good decision but maybe It would have been better to stay one night in beautiful Olly since its closer to MachuPicchu train station and much more convenient.
