Awesome hotel. Beautiful grounds, nice room and wonderful service combine for a great experience. The buffet breakfast was excellent as well. We were there in January and almost had the place to ourselves

You get to smell the fresh air, see the scenery, walk in the main square, go to shops and you're minutes away from heated towels and a nice shower in your room. The inside of the hotel is very luxurious and the staff were both curtious and accomodating.
we only spend one night here since we were joining a tour group from this day onwards but it was the best hotel we stayed at in peru (cusco and lima).

We had an amazing stay at this hotel. We stayed two nights (over three days) and found the place to be absolutely spectacular. We were there during the off-season which made it that much better as we had the place to ourselves. The food in the restaurant was fantastic and we had a wonderful experience of having the entire place to ourselves - which led to fantastic service and a really memorable, personal experience. All in all, this is a FIVE STAR, GADE A, ALL AROUND AWESOME place! Definite recommend! Plus, there are peacocks running around! That's pretty cool! And, they let us show a movie in the movie theater, which was really nice of them. And, when my wife was having mad altitude sickness, they had special tea and a canister of Oxygen on standby to get her through it. Could not have been better!

I'm SO GLAD I picked this hotel when booking our family trip to Peru. I've stayed at a lot of fancy hotels all over the world but this was by far the most exquisite. The grounds were reminiscent of the garden of eden with all colorful flowers, birds, exotic creatures. The staff were friendly and very very helpful. The concierge Charles really went above and beyond to make sure our stay was everything we dreamed of and more. If you're going vacationing in the Sacred Valley... this is the place to go.
One word of advice though...
If you plan on doing any sight seeing tours while you're there... book through the hotel. Really I can't stress enough the importance of trusting their judgement when it comes to tours. Our guide (Alvaro) was fantastic and so passionate about his culture that I found myself crying on several occasions. It was beautiful, eye opening and worth EVERY PENNY. I'm a very observant person... I like to pay attention to the things going on around me... while we were touring the sights I would listen in on some of the other guides / tour services / tourists and all I could think was THANK THE STARS we booked our tours through the hotel... because all the ones I witnessed taking place around our own seemed so crappy in comparison.

Ignore the complaints about the food left by the other reviewers. the breakfast was BEAUTIFUL.
You won't find any American "comfort food here" but hey! What do you expect?? This isn't America... it's Peru. If you tire of the hotel menu Urabamba has some gourmet restaurants that will blow your mind for less than the cost of a big mac meal. (Just ask the front desk where to go) The pisco bar at the hotel was fantastic. I really enjoyed chatting with the bar staff, they were pleasant and really really friendly (ask for a coca sour... it's the best cocktail in the world)

Great way to acclimate before trekking or visiting nearby ruins of Ollantytambo and Machu Pichuu. The rooms are appointed incredibly with en suite jacuzzi s and great privacy and security features. The grounds are off the top with peacocks, macaws, and alpacas lounging around. Great breakfast buffet and dinners are reasonably priced. We used Condor Travel to get us around, and loved there guides and drivers. Don't forget to visit Moras and Moray......what a valley...no wonder they called it the Sacred Valley.....don't miss this..... and reserve a river raft excursion down the Urabamba.......

Room Tip: I don't think it matters

Wow I've stayed in many great hotels over the years but the grounds on this property are perfect!! Colorful plants , birds, mountains just gorgeous! Nicest place overall we stayed in all of Peru. The food is very good as well wonderful fish for lunch. Lunch was better than dinners. We were there for 3 days over Christmas. Peaceful place. Even has its own ruins, church, orchid garden, cinema, library and museum on the property. I could have spent at least a full week here. The pool was lovely a great place to relax and have a drink after a long day of hiking. I will dream about returning to Arawna! Our room was luxurious. Huge room with massive shower, huge jacuzzi tub, gorgeous deck and super clean with robes and slippers and high ceilings. I don't go on vacation for the hotels but this one is an experience since it was built around a living museum! Very cool could spend an entire day walking around this well designed property. They said it is only open 4 years so the modern meeting the ruins is impressive.

Came from the Arawna in Cusco.
Totally opposite experience.
In Cusco, we were pampered. everything was perfect.
In Sacred Valley we got dirty looks as if we were imposing on the bar staff. It happened at lunch and dinner. At dinner after several screw ups we walked out, our only choice was the dinning area. In the dinning area we were pointed in the direction of tables, but told to go to the bar area to eat, after walking to the tables, they were dirty.
The bar "manager" had caught up with us told us to come back and that he would make it right. This time we got menus, the even took our orders once we got the food we had to ask for silverware. Then my wife had to get up to ask for a knapkin when she realized that she did not have one.
I can put up with arrogance when the service is good, I can put up with poor service wen people are nice. I got to say this was bad. Especially since it is on the high end.
Wife went for breakfast early, 5:30 AM, no people eating just dirty tables.

The hotel is in the middle of nowhere, so you have to put up with the service dining elsewhere is not an option.

Rooms are nice, spacious and clean but pack a lunch.
