Read a lot about urubamba restaurants before I ventured off the rio sagrado property and the staff at the OEH property was spot on when they suggested this place. What a find and Frank the bartender was a fun guy to chat with. Food was delicious but split the entrees, they are huge. Fair prices for a lot of tasty food. Out of the way, a real treat to discover. And tell Frank the idiot American sent ya. Told him he has to put some trust in TA commentarios. Great spot, you'll have fun!

This is the place that you go when money is not tight and you want very close to four star restaurant quality. There is a great area for sitting outside, lounge with coffee, glass of wine, the place is well kept so the view into the kitchen is nice. The interior is subdued nice lighting colors. This is a good place for meetings if you reserve a larger table. Yummy.

We found this restaurant during our walk around the town itself. Remembering that it had high marks from TA we decided to make a reservation. Probably because it was the summertime and low season for tourism, only a total of six people for dinner, which normally would mean a not so hot place. Firstly, the Apple Soup which my wife had was really something else. I had the Alpaca Carpaccio which was, without a doubt, the finest I had tasted, kudos.

Then the let down, I ordered the Trout Andean style, this came out somewhat neatly presented but as it was off the bone and fried it became very tasteless plus it was three small pieces one of which was really poor. My wife went for the chicken in a Madras sauce, not sure if the spices are scarce in mixing a curry paste or sauce but this was far from a curry, more of a Coconut sauce. A let down. A frozen Passion Fruit Cheesecake sounded delicious but it was a little on the tasteless side.

Again, this is a cash only restaurant so bring plenty of local.

This was one of the best meals I had in Peru. Totally hidden place, but worth the effort to locate in town. The coconut potato soup was delish. Don't miss their specialty juices either. If you pass through, definitely do not miss this wonderful spot, and dine on the outdoor patio.

Cozy restaurant with friendly staff & excellent food. Grab a table by the small heater stove on a chilly night. The alpaca carpaccio was very well prepared as were the duck prosciutto & Peruvian caprese salads. Highlight of the meal was definitely the house gnocchi with chicken. Prices were reasonable and service was excellent. Come prepared with soles on hand as credit cards are not accepted. El Huacatay is not to be missed in Urubamba with not a single poor entree or appetizer between 5 people.
